Must be an extremely light product those tanks are hauling?
The reason chemical tankers are normally 43-46 feet and no more than 7500 gallons is due to the weight of the product and controlling the surge.

Yeah. I don't know how you'd fit 7000 gallons on a short wheel bridge.
My 48 was 6000 gallons but it had the axles and so did the truck. Good for 97k I believe it was. Which filled that trailer to the lids.Bud A. Thanks this. -
That will depend on the liquid too, since not all liquids are created equal.
I recall a shipment of heavy chemical totes I once delivered where the product worked out to around 15 lbs a gallon.Bud A. Thanks this. -
Curb vs Tanker.prostartom, Bud A., Jamie01 and 3 others Thank this. -
All of our tanks are 43' and have a 7000 gallon capacity on 2 axles. That is the norm in these parts. And some times the trailers get pretty full, they never get filled to the top. Have to have some space for "Outage".
I'm sure that in some of our other terminals there are bigger capacity tankers that are longer and on more than two axles. -
Around here most gas trailers are 11,500 or 12000 gallons . 5 compartments, tri-axle ,45 feet long…….

...Or excessive speed.

Sulfuric acid is over 15#/gal. we did a titanium dioxide slurry 22.5 #/gal. ran it in a 5000 gal 'latex tight fill' but only 2300 gal...like hauling a bowling ball.LTL Bull, Bud A., MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this.

eliptical aluminum DOT406 fuel tanks usually have close to a full length frame supporting the pipelines so they can be longer than DOT407 round barrels where the kingpin, landing gear and running are each separate sub frames this limits the length you can support with just the barrel.Bud A. Thanks this.
