If you're driving the same truck every day and nobody else is driving it you can leave stuff in the truck. If you're shot-gunning the trucks make up a bug-out bag and carry it with you.
    Hearing protector.
Rubber mallet. Don't get a dead blow hammer. Rubber mallet.
Extra cam lock gaskets. Three or four for every size you use.
Cam lock ears. Half a dozen
Camlock ear pins. Take a bunch. They get lost.
    Flashlight. Extra batteries.
Duct tape. Get something colorful...it catches the mechanics attention
    Rubber snubbers or rubber rope.
Baling wire. Really. When you need some, nothing else will do.
Extra gloves. Two or three pair. One pair on, one pair on the defroster vents drying and stinking up the truck, one pair on your hot air line fitting if you can't stand the smell of dead gloves in the cab. Don't put diesel soaked gloves on the hot air fittings. Ever.
Good boots. Cheap dime store boots kill your feet.
In the winter, rubber boots and extra dry socks.
This is too much for a bug-out bag, I know. Carry a box in your work car and stock up your bug out bag from it. Whatever you get lazy and don't take, or fix when it's broken, or lose, will be the thing you need on your next load when you're fifty miles from the middle of nowhere.
    Have fun.

All good info here! But, I’m going to give the OP a tip that’s going to make me his hero for as long as he pulls a pneumatic.

OP, if you ever unload into a pig, once you turn the product valve on and verify is going through the hose, turn the line valve OFF! do that on each hopper. If you do that, you’ll be empty in 20 minutes flat, and rolling to your next load!

He’s talking about food grade so there won’t be any unloading into those.

    zipsnlbs Thanks this.

This place is awesome ! I appreciate all the tips n tricks !!! I always carry a bug out bag haha so that will be easy I like the idea of a tote in the personal truck with other stuff I may need ! I will be doing that. I’m pretty sure I’ll be pumping into a silo not sure on details but I was told to plan on a hour and 45 to unload so I’m assuming it’s not a pig . Also assume that’s once I get the hang of it . I’m in no hurry and wanna learn it right so I won’t be rushing . I took a change of jobs for the past 5 years and have been working at a chemical plant running process machines then learned some R&D . Thankful for the experience there but man I’m glad to get what seems to be a good opportunity to get back behind the wheel . From what I see pneumatics seems to be a good gig . Fingers crossed . I’ll be doing the same run day in and day out pick up tractor Bob tail to trailer drive to the mill unload and return so it may get a little repetitive but I’m ok with that I like the idea of being home every night . Thanks again guys . Keep em coming if you think of anything else !!!

Don’t exceed specified line pressure for unload. People get cranky when you break their lines or blow the solo sock off

    Long FLD Thanks this.

We had one place that we took food grade salt to that had flappers in their line that would close if you got over 8psi unloading. It usually took around 5 hours to unload and our “delivery fee” for sitting there was more than the freight charge to haul it 120 miles. It was easy money to sit there most of a day.

LTL Bull and zipsnlbs Thank this.
