Fuel tank strap - Houston, we have a problem

Front strap - brand new. Circled is a crack, you can catch your nail on it.




Rear strap - original.



Tank as it is. 150 gallon



@OLDSKOOLERnWV welded drivers side strap on the back side where it was cracking.

@lester and I replaced the passenger side for same reason.

Drivers side cracked (from a different place) and the tank dropped , replaced it.

Now brand new strap has the crack.

In the great realm of 2023, this is but a minor inconvenience. However, ‘tis merely mechanical, simple at best - without feeling.

Memory, it certainly has. Fatigue it does suffer.

Lidocaine, Morphine and Fentanyl it does not need.

What does it need?

 

Webbing as in fabric - full new loop of fabric.

On the backside, it’s essentially the same as the front, loop back and welded.

 

@lester and I pondered that - I think we both have the OCD on lines. Broke out the tape measure.

I’ll go out tomorrow and recheck.

It’s the 3rd front strap failure, so I’m missing something here.

 

Better pictures please - and I’ll spend a bunch of money too, vs. talking to SD state troopers on the side of the road!!

That KW setup makes more sense to me with the cradle.

 

Now that - I did not verify or establish.

The drivers side, replaced at a dealership, told me to snug it up after a few miles.
