Waste management pays well by the hour and they are not fussy about minor junk. New cdl probably could get foot in the door.

It wasn't just the one curb roll dude, cmon. You most likely exhibited a pattern that scared the instructor. Own it.
Also, how did you "test out" when the feds REQUIRE a 40 hour eld program and a successful road test from an approved training program? -
I do not want to sound like a jerk.. most people have a family, don’t want to miss birthdays, thanksgiving, christmas being stuck on road, it happens.
Even when i was a kid, mom couldn’t work for a while after a car wreck, and dad had to stay out 2-3 months to keep things going.
You'll have to figure if you want to run, how long out, Schneider Bulk was 6 days off per month, which is way better than most 1-2 days off per every 7. -
Can you do it for 6 months? Then find a local job?
Where do you live?
In Chicagoland you could go to a warehouse and get in to a yard jockey spot, eventually.
Some roofing suppliers do drop offs like ABC. Then you drive truck and unload with crane or forklift. Lumbar companies do similar work. The electric company the CDL is needed. Class B, but class A supercedes. Become a lineman, if you have decent math skills.InTooDeep Thanks this. -
From my understanding Yard Jockey/Spotter, Quad Axle, Garbage Truck or roll off doesn't count as CDL-A experience. Personally i've seen job postings for regional or hourly excluding those.
With that said, yard jockey/spotter is an ideal place to start. Too bad it doesn't count as experience. Any issues you had backing will evaporate after a couple months of continuous backing into tight spaces assuming you have the temperament for it. -
Waste Management, Republic Services and others also have training programs for drivers with CDL-A Permit.
Yes, CDL-A job with garbage companies does count as experience. -
What the rub is OTR. But, yeah, working as a CDL driver counts...just not OTR.Chinatown Thanks this.
-
That's correct. Some OTR companies won't accept local work, but some do with a little training/refresher added.Opus Thanks this.

That is dependent on how badly they hit the curb! I have seen some real bad ones during testing and many of the minor hits. All are fails and a minor hit/rub on test day when most are more nervous then they realize should be met with a retest within a couple days. Those up on tear up the landscape during the test should be left go. To bull threw on that important test day when you may be that nervous really shows how you will show a lack of respect and patients out on the road in the long run. -
