    a 14' dry van? are you sure? dry vans are usually the same height as reefers...

    MUSTANGGT, unlike black cow, what I haul is human waste, not too appealing, but it's been through so many chemical processes that it's not all that hazardous. And as for black cow, I know right where they're at, I moved up from the sumter county area, just don't tell anyone I lived down there.:biggrin_25512:

    Alot of Western states Like COMMIEFORNIA Oregon and Washington along with Arizona UTAH and Colorado allow 14 feet as the STANDARD height. What would be an OVERHEIGHT load in the east is normal there.

    In the late 90's Swift had a Ultra Cube 53 footer what it was was with 22.5's a 14 footer however htey put 19.5's on them and it was 13'6 and was legal nationwide. They even had a seperate FLEET FOR THEM. Tractors and Trailers.

    10-4 I'll keep it under my hat.
    We also pull pine straw out of Branford. Seems to be a big business in that area.

    Hmm, weird. As for swift, hahahahahaha....

    Anyway, it just sounded like the guy a while back that thought that reefers were taller than dry vans or some other nonsense...

    Back in the summer I had a load of plants. Yes I said plants, they where all types in just flower pots on no pallets. They were going to all over Metro Detroit Home Depots from a nursery in Tulsa,OK. Took about 10 guys an hour to load a 53ft dry van full of these.

    So I went and scaled, 45 k and some change. I was like oh well ok that's fine I ain't overweight. Got going down the road and noticed smoke coming from my trailer. I pulled over to find out a brake drum locked up on me and had to back it off on a 80 degree ,pouring down rain day. Got it backed off and went about 150 miles and another brake locked up. So backed it off ect. ect..

    Got to my first stop and this is where I found out I would have to drag each plant to the tailgate of the trailer.Took me 2 days after delivering the load to get it off my trailer.

    Never again will I haul plants, I will sit before I haul them.

    Yeah, our company does the same kind of loads. Im sure I will get one before too long. I trust you got some kind of pay for all that work right?

    Nope that company I worked for at the time paid by percentage of the load, so I got my 29% of the load and that was it.

    I used to haul plant loads out of South Florida. Had a decked reefer trailer, so really had a load on. Packed solid to roof.These plants were light, maybe 30,000 pounds. We would have about about a dozen pick-ups at various nurseries, and I have had as many as 40 drops. It could get complicated, but they never hurried us.Had one week from start of load to finish dropping. We would start at a K-Mart store in the morning, drag maybe 150 plants to the door, and they would take off trailer. The people at the store could always tell you how to get to the next store, so that helped. Most I ever got was 12 drops in one day. It was work, but payed great back then.
