I just watched a commercial on the local channel for an ambulance-chasing lawyer.
The ad has trucks driving down the road with the messages on the trailer like the following -
WARNING: My company makes me drive all night long.
WARNING: In a collision with me, your car won't survive
WARNING: I am behind schedule and speeding
WARNING: I might be half-sleeping or texting, so stay out of my way
WARNING: 30ft. blind spot
WARNING: My truck weighs 20x your car, you don't stand a chance
This is what the mentality of these lawyers have, they feed this fear into people and when there is an accident, even if it isn't the truck's fault, these lawyers go after everyone they can to make their money.
Why you have to be diligent

I take it business is a booming in the legal department.
One industry that does not slow down when the economy does that's for sure.
Flat Earth Trucker, Feedman, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Stuff like this is also why its always a bad bad idea to put any kind of sticker on your truck. Considering how normalized stuff like that commercial has become....they can and will find a way to use it as a weapon.
NRA sticker? "This man was threatening my client with a gun your honor"
My brakes are good, hows your insurance? Sticker? "This driver brake checked my client sir"
And much worse besides. And i know the NRA example personally because when i was sued by that one idiot they used a picture of my truck with my OOIDA sticker and tried to claim their client thought it was one causeing them to panic.....regardless of the fact they hit a parked truck....and they look nothing alike.Sons Hero, TheLoadOut, Grumppy and 2 others Thank this. -
I have an ever-growing curiosity about why it is that so many large companies don't seem to know or care that their drivers will immediately go bumper-to-bumper at or above the speed limit to get around someone who backs off a bit for collision avoidance. (construction zone, inner city, or some other place where a typical fleet truck can readily accelerate)
(both the backroom/off-record thinking/commentary and what they'd have to say for themselves if ever confronted openly with video footage)Last edited: Mar 26, 2024
TheLoadOut and ‘Olhand Thank this. -
I notice that too.
At Swift I have all the 'features' that alert my company if I am following too close or running stop signs or lights, braking or cornering too hard, all that stuff.
There are some drivers that don't like Swift because they hold us accountable for our driving habits. -
Same way with I-10 in Louisiana. But I'll give the attorneys some credit, they didn't purchase every single billboard in the state - they leave a few for the casinos.JoeyJunk, Oxbow, Flat Earth Trucker and 7 others Thank this.

I’m beginning to learn that if it’s being advertised it’s most likely over rated and not worth the cost.
Insurance is another big one. Bigger the name, more lousy the service.
People that provide a service with quality don’t have to advertise because they are always busy…….Oxbow, gentleroger, Arctic_fox and 2 others Thank this.
