The Freightliner AMT's I have driven, even off cruise, decide to start upshifting going down hill to keep it in it's optimal MPG range thus negating a gear that kept the rpms up so the Jakes would do the job like they should.
The Pete I drove at Magnum with a PACCAR and a 10 speed manual had way better fuel mileage than any of the Cascadias I have driven, AMT or manual. And with Magnum, it's heavy reefer freight a lot of the time. Of course they were castrated to 64, so that had a positive effect.

My truck doesn’t have it on. If it’s enabled on your truck it’s in Vehicle Settings -> Transmission. If you turn it off there it will reset every time you turn the truck off for any length of time.M22 rockcrusher Thanks this.

The last Cascadias I drove would ecoast and nothing ever appeared on the dash. Must be how the company had the trucks set up...but it would cut power and drop to idle rpms the last little bit of an uphill climb and then the rpms wouldn't increase when the speed picked up going down the other side until it went into "oh ####" mode. And this happened on more than one of the AMT equipped trucks I drove, so it wasn't a malfunction.
I prefer older rope, it doesn't chaffe as bad. (This is humor, or at least an attempt at it)Last edited: Apr 22, 2024

Picking up in Burgaw, NC heading to Topeka, KS. Big excitement on the way here was when I got off on the state road here I saw a Starcar pulling a tanker moonwalking across the bridge. I assume he realized he was about to get on I-40 going the wrong way and backing down the middle of the road was the best tool in his toolbox to address that mistake.

Yeah, I never understood that one myself.... why give yourself a larger turning radius than necessary out here?.. especially with a light load, the ride ain't really an issue... to each their own I guesscdavis188, Knucklehead, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.
