This happened before I got into driving a truck but still relevant to the thread in a matter of speaking.

It was late late late one night, I was out in my moms Isuzu Rodeo, 16 or 17, thought I was it ya know. Drop my buddy off at home, its probably 4 in the morning. I'm driving like a bat out of he** and there's a sharp curve about a mile before you get to my parents house.

I'm speeding along, radio blaring loud as it can go, and clear as anything I ever heard, I hear a voice in the truck with me saying slow down, heard it over the radio like it was barely playing. I couldn't bring myself to look around because it scared me something awful, but I slowed down. I get maybe almost to the curve and there is probably 30 deer in the road.

To this day I truly believe my guardian angel was watching over me because I was speeding and it wasn't my time, because if I wouldn't have slowed down, chances are I would have drove off an embankment on either side of the road.

Evert fell asleep behind another truck on top of the steering wheel in a truck stop and wake up and all you see is that trailer and for a minute you think your still driving . You start stomping on the brake and screaming like a girl cause for a minute you believe your about to rear end something.. You snap out of it and look around make sure no one saw you acting like an idiot.. Try and regain that composure.. That'll scare ya..

Know a guy that used to pull up in our yard in front of trucks that the drivers was dozing behind the wheel. Then he would hit the air horn. :biggrin_2556: I figured he would cause them to have a heart attack or they would beat him to death. Neither one ever happened.

Or as someone else posted somewhere on this forum, how about waking up as a truck is backing in beside you, and you think your truck is the one moving . . .

I've never had that happen, but I certainly can imagine the momentary panic and confusion it could cause!:biggrin_2551:

Or like a rest stop that used to be on 24 when it was two lane. East and West bound shared a rest stop. I heard a guy say I'll never stop at that rest stop again. He said I stopped there once layed my head on the steering wheel. I fell asleep and was woke up by my cab being a lit up. Lifted my head up and saw headlights. I thought I fell asleep at the wheel. It wasn't funny for him but I thought it was.

Did that at the brake check area at the top of Cajon Pass a couple years ago...pulled in behind a tanker and laid my head back in the seat for a quick cat nap...woke up and saw this bright shiny tank about 10 feet in front of me...lets just say it took a minute to get my pulse back to normal.

I had a driver tell me the same story long time ago. His story was the same but it was foggy and a cop had knocked on his door to wake him.
He freeked and started punching the brake and looking at the truck in front of him then looks at the cop and keeps standing on the brake. The cop says "driver when you get it stopped could you move it off the ramp".
    It was scary and funny.
