Hey all,
I am a former Crete employee of 3 times (I know I made poor choices) I was thinking about trying to get on with Shaffer. Do they cross check? I kinda burned the bridge. I left 3 times from Crete all with personal reasons so it wasn't any violations or anything like that but the 3rd time I had to convince my terminal manager that I was going to stay and I didn't because my sister passed and I ended up putting my two weeks in because I wouldn't be back.
Do I have a chance to even get back on with them at all? I figure not but figured I would ask because technically Shaffer is a different company.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your sister, my condolences. I'm not certain, but I think all the recruiters for Crete, Shaffer, and Hunt are on the same system so they probably would see it. But if you gave notice, I'm not sure that would necessarily be a big deal. How long have you been gone? Is your CDL clean? Have you been employed steadily since then? Which terminal will you be running out of?
Another idea is to apply for the Walmart dedicated fleet. They're almost always looking for drivers. I made pretty good money at the Cheyenne Walmart, but got tired of dragging empties in the wind after two years so went western regional.Last edited: Jun 6, 2024

Is Crete/Shaffer the end all, be all? Are you open to other opportunities? Companies do get to the end of their rope with hiring drivers back repeatedly. It don't hurt to apply, but it would behoove you to have other options in your back pocket.monsteromen Thanks this.

it’s the deland Florida terminal. The terminal manager had to approve me coming back the third time. So I’m assuming probably not. I had to do what I had to do.
amd I don’t blame them. No it’s not end all be all. It’s just easy to get on with them because I’m a prior employee. I have been actively looking. Hopefully something comes through for me. It seems recruiters are difficult to get a hold of right now.
Thanks to the both of you.Bud A. Thanks this. -
If you post your location and experience level, and I'm guessing you want dry van or reefer, you can get all kinds of leads from various members on here

I did that already in another forum. I appreciate the tip

I’m going back to Shaffer for the 5th time and just got approved today. I didn’t read through the thread, but give it a shot. In my case, I left for family issues, but the company never treated me wrong. I think as long as you didn’t wreck a truck or piss anyone off, you should be good.

I'm pretty sure I pissed off the terminal manager in Deland lol. I appreciate that though I may call them because they haven't reached out to me at all.
Thanks,Bud A. Thanks this.
