How long have you been waiting? Just curious.

Was hired on July 10th. Did a class for one week after class ended they assigned me a male mentor and I specifically specified a female mentor on my hiring papers during orientation. Was told they have 10 female mentos but they do not like to work with females most of them...Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Sounds like BS to me. Stick to your original request.
Bad enough with the stress of sharing a truck with a stranger, never mind one of the opposite sex.ducnut, Rideandrepair, snowmantrucking101 and 2 others Thank this. -
This is trucking, you don't get paid unless you are moving. A year from now, you won't remember your trainer's name. If gender is more important than moving then suck it up and welcome to the suck. Wait. And wait. And wait.
If you are with a company that has integrity, their drivers have integrity. Focus on your goal of being solo. Not one of us has gone thru anything less. Training sux
Best luck, driverRideandrepair, firemedic2816, CatesCube and 1 other person Thank this. -
So you are female and wanting a female trainer. This seems like what the company would want also. I've been driving 50 years, never rode with a trainer like is required today so I'm going by what I have read about how this works. I'm still driving and I do know that looking around truckstops I don't see many drivers I'd share a truck with. I'm male and I wouldn't feel comfortable having a female riding with me.
Don't think my wife would like it much either. It's not like you're working in a office or warehouse or someplace around lots of other people all the time, a lot can happen cramped up in a truck cab. If I were you I'd tell the company that you'll only train with a female and if that's not going to work I'd go somewhere else. This is crazy that a company would want to do this, opening themselves up to all kinds of lawsuits I think. Sorry I don't have a answer for you other than, no they aren't going to pay you while you're waiting. If the company told you that you'd be trained by a female, hopefully you have this in writing. Good luck to you.ducnut, Rideandrepair, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this.
