I work at cfi back in 2008. After completing their training, we had to wait for a trainer to do several weeks. Some people had been waiting for a trainer for a couple of weeks. I was lucky.nextgentrucker and bryan21384 Thank this.

On the Friday when you were assigned your TE you were given a sheet of paper with your TE's contact info, travel arrangements/meet times, the RTA's information and your DTL's contact information. You were also told that your DTL would reach out either Friday afternoon or Monday morning, but if you haven't heard from them by mid-morning call in. Have you checked the messages on the tablet? Good chance there are instructions waiting for you.
Since you posted at 16:15 that you were going to call in, I'm guessing that you're not going to get an answer tonight. You're going to want to call in about 0730 and start being assertive/taking control of your destiny.
It would behoove you to go back through your training materials again tonight, particularly trip planning and setting your NAT. Remember it is up to you to communicate your availability, and if you fail to communicate Schneider will fail to dispatch you effectively.

Look, Schneider ain't going to hold your hand throughout your career. There are things YOU need to be doing to ensure that people know you're available and ready to roll.

Been a while, they didn’t have tablets when i was there, but they emailed my truck number and rental car to get to houston terminal to get it.

I came to cfi with a brand new cdl. They put you through a 1 week course that included wet skid pad training. If you got through you'd then get assigned to a trainer to go otr with. When he was satisfied, the you'd get your own truck.

Schneider does 1 week of yard maneuvers, 1 week (more or less) OTR with a trainer, and 1 week back at the yard to finish up. And then you're gone.
Used to be anyway.
It was AMAZING the number of students that came in with a brand new CDL who had no idea whatsoever how to drive a truck. I'd be sitting in the back going, "oh no dude....." lolnextgentrucker, bryan21384, The one california kid and 2 others Thank this. -
It's now 2 weeks at the OC, 1 week with a trainer.
Or for cdl training it's 2-3 weeks at the oc, 2-3 weeks with a trainer, and 1 week at the oc for the final cdl test.
Frankly, what they do for cdl training should be the inexperienced program as well. There's too much information for these idiots to internalize. Getting a CDL is too easy and these guys think they know what they're doing. At least with manual transmissions it was easy to show the idiots that we actually know stuff and they don't. With a clutch, if a person took 15 minutes to back into a spot, their leg would let them know they sucked. Now, they have zero perception that it's taking an excessive amount of time.
