Are you really a driver or just a jackwad that likes to argue with people?

Both. Iv actually stopped drivers from coming to #### companies before because of how brash I am . I remember when I was working for a car hauling company that now is out of business. A driver approached me at a hotel and was supposed to be starting orientation the next morning. So he asked all types of questions, I showed him my W2s , let him look over the truck and he figured out it wasn't what the recruiter told him . He packed his bags told them he didn't want the job and a few weeks later hes working at a company that pays him more than he would've made and he is home more in better equipment. What happened to me , well the company went out of business and I found a new job . Now that is why pay is not a secret never has been, no reason for it to be . You can bet the same guys that won't tell you about pay ain't going to tell you the juicy stuff like, oh yeah healthy insurance is 800$ a month for one person , no we don't pay breakdown.

The issue is you could have 10 drivers you talk to and all 10 of them make different amount of money this industry essentially is you make whatever money you wanna make someone wanna make someone wanna make more…

Don't dip out on math class son , you ever heard of data? You take all that information and come to a safe conclusion and what you can expect knowing your habitual work habits. The only way it would be ok to talk to one driver is if it was a salary.

I’ve done my best to help answer your questions. The thread has been ongoing since 2016. Many drivers have contributed to it over the years, so the information is plentiful regarding miles, routes, etc. If you have a sincere question that I feel I can answer, I’m happy to help. I’m not interested in arguing online or responding to hostile comments, though. So, you’ll have to forgive me if I ignore that sort of thing. I’m sure there are a few competitor companies out there, that would enjoy seeing a productive IRT thread locked down. I wouldn’t want to give them the satisfaction by taking the bait. Most of us on here show civility and maturity to each other when we have discussions. I think that is the adult thing to do, considering the company’s brand is in the title of the thread.

    Stay safe out there.

    I t
I think the adult thing to do would be to "post them stubs" next time a driver asks for tangible info. No matter how you cut it you're wrong for that .

Cool! Thanks! I'm guessing, we don't have a dedicated dispatcher. I live in Port Saint Lucie, so Winter Haven is just 2hr away from me, but I do have a private parking where I park my truck with my current company that's close to me, so I'll park there, $390/month, not cheap... What I'm wondering is, can I park at a truckstop, drop a trailer, then bobtail to the nearest Walmart, stack up on groceries and go to back to the truckstop and hook back up to the trailer. My current company doesn't allow us to dropped our trailers, so I'm hesitant to go stack up on groceries and to go to the truckstop just to find it full, so that's where I'm coming from, also for the night delivery customers, can we stay at them for the night?

I've gone down on some crazy roads... and hope I won't go down on some crazier ones lol... Do we have any deliveries on crazy backroads on the freaking mountains like I've had? Also do you think I'll have a problem with the ( unsafe lane changing ) ticket that I got?

I'm just down the coast from you in Boynton. I park my car in Winter Haven and just leave the truck at the terminal when I go home. $390 a month is was more than any commuting expenses you might incur. The other advantage of parking at the terminal for hometime is that you can write any issues or PMs then have them done while you are at home vs sitting in the lounge all day...and it will be all day. Of course if you don't have a car at all then that won't work.

I don't know of any company policy prohibiting dropping a tank, but obviously if it gets towed or stolen that would be on you. I tend to think tanks aren't as appealing to thieves as a reefer would be, but who knows. Tankers are shorter than most other trailers and I haven't had any issues getting into Walmart parking lots provided I scope them out on Google maps first.

Most customers I have been to will allow parking overnight. The tank washes we use also usually allow parking overnight. The company will also reimburse if you have to reserve a paid parking spot at a truckstop so you have that option. I don't do that often though so I don't know if they will have an issue if you are doing that excessively.

Some dairy plants can be out in the boonies, but they get regular truck traffic so they won't be on any crazy roads. Having said that, some of the older ones were built back when trucks were smaller so it can get tricky backing into bays etc.

It's not like dry van or flatbed etc where you will get loads going to a location that has never had a tractor trailer there before.

I agree with everything Redtwin said above. I’ve been to a winery in one of the Carolinas that was on a sketchy two-lane and a place in Pennsylvania that was similar, but I can’t think of any others that were too bad. I’ve only been to the two I mentioned once or twice, so they’re not regulars. 99% of our customers are easy to get to. To this day, I’ve never owned a true “truck GPS.” I use Apple Maps and just keep in mind that it believes I’m in a regular car, not a semi. It’s worked fine for IRT customers.

Whoah!! If you don't have a "Trucker" GPS for IRT's customers then that's all I need to hear LOL!! I've gone down on some CRAZYYY roads, and I don't wanna know if there's worse out there lol! My brother-in-law is an OO and he said, if my route said to take I-68 in Virginia, park the truck and ask dispatch for another route, so I'm taking his advice lol.
