Thank you I plan on doing that but I do want to call the courthouse and ask for the ticket if at all possible to get lowered and price and if it does, I will convey that to cat cat scales thank God for their guarantee that was the best $14 I’ve ever spent

Why bother? They said they will reimburse the whole thing. Let the big multimillion dollar company pay whatever it is and then go on with life. They are paying the fine for you because it is good PR for them. If they actually cared about $750 they would fight you for it not just give in right away.

I would think your principles would then want you to own your mistake instead of trying to get them to pay for it. Their scale isn't the reason you got a ticket. You were legal gross but your mistake with the suspension is the reason you got a ticket not because their scale was wrong.

I edited the response felt like I got a little too personal morals. I’m not sure part of me agrees with you but a good part of me doesn’t if their scales are off by 3500 pounds with that lower my overweight on those axles probably would that mean the ticket would’ve been lower probably that’s why I mentioned in my original email to them that my ticket would probably have been $600 under I’m not sure about organs penalties from 0 to 1000 pounds 1000 to 5000 and then anything above 5000

Agreed. As a public announcement yes my ticket would’ve been lower. 3000-5000lbs overweight is a $300 ticket in Oregon. Anything above 5000lbs is 15 cents per pound.

I am asking for advice as well as public announcement to flatbed drivers with split axles.
I was loaded with railroad tie downs (lumber) in Klamath falls. Load was suppose to be heavy so I split my axles: my trailer can be tandem or split. I went to the pilot and weighed my truck before the scales. I didn’t weigh it as split axle but just regular (big mistake) my weight according to the cat scale was under 71k and my trailer was under 29k. I didn’t think twice and would never have even thought that the weight could be all on a single axle. I get to the scale and they said that my gross weight was 74k a difference of 3500 lbs compared to the cat scale and that my split trailer axles were 6k on the 4th axle and over 25k on the 5th axle. Ticket is $795.
I told the DOT that I can close my axles and be legal and that I was trying to just work and not cheat the system. I showed him the cat scale, but he didn’t give me a break. Not sure if he didn’t have discretion in this matter or he just didn’t care. He did make me reweigh with my tandems closed before being allowed to leave the scale.
Requesting Advice: is there a truckers lawyer for this that won’t cost more than the ticket?
Would you pay it since it won’t affect your driving record?
Would you bring it to the cat scales attention for any type of reprieve?

Public Announcement: Even if you know your good on your trailer axle weight since it’s split, please make sure you individual axles are legal.

Honestly in this case if i were you... id call cat scale and lie to them your weights are good idk maybe it works... Definately fight it in court with these type of tickets and being a trucker alot of times youll have to do it virutally i wouldnt even buy a lawyer if i were you this is BULLSYT. Plead not guilty and request trial you have an 88% chance the cop dosent even wanna fight you... and ask chatgpt for legal advice
