Some outfits will not only ding you for that, but also hold you responsible for the wrecker bill.

It makes you realize that how incredible it is for a driver to go a lifetime without an incident!

My only chargeable was Feb 1986 on I-80 in Wyoming. I got blown off the (surprise) iced up road during a blizzard. They called it a "chargeable" because "I shouldnt have been out there". Never mind they had me load out from Walla Walla to Va Beach and gave me 3.5 days to do it... Company truck, no chains. I couldnt find a safe place to get off. There was a truck stop about 15 miles up the road I was going in come Hell or high water.

Come to think about it, that was my last trip west of Salt Lake. I can count the number of trips Ive had in my career west of KC on my fingers.

I havent left Florida since I got here last March :)

Yeah I remember those posts and that jerk off dot cop that threatened to cite you if anything came loose. You’re definitely one of the good un’s out there Mr Tibbitt. Gives us older goats hope for the future. Keep the shiny up and the greasy down!

You’ve been doing this longer than me - happens to the best of us.

Guy said something a while back that stuck with me -

“You’re only as good as your last load”

    Chin up buddy.

Well, I think it is a big deal or they wouldn't be here. It's how new trucks get to be old trucks. The life of a truck will encounter many obstacles, not much can be done on ice except ride it out. Not much can warn you of ice and luckily you have a boss that understands that. If this is the worst that ever happens to you, consider yourself lucky.

I was extremely lucky. That ditch drains right to the storm sewer system. If I’d have ruptured a fuel tank or put a hole in the oil pan it would have been a very expensive mistake. I’ve only got another few years out here. House will be paid off this year and I don’t have any other debt so I’m strongly considering throttling back soon. And you’re right, it dang sure was a big deal to me. Feel horrible over it, thankful but horrible. Napoleon said he’d rather have lucky generals than good generals today I’m glad I was more lucky than good
