Did you dry out the trailer after the washout by running it at +70 continuous for two hours before you pre-cooled it?

If you pre-cool a soaking wet trailer to frozen load temperatures it does something to the reefer system where it won’t go below a certain temperature.

At that point you have to hit the defrost button and it will start working again.

I wouldn’t hit defrost on an ice cream load without authorization from your company first though.

I hit defrost basically every time I get out of the truck, they are usually set to do it every 4-6 hours but especially in high heat with high humidity it’s always better to get rid of ice, especially if it’s within a couple hours of loading

Nice thread, Bakersfield in the summer shipping ice cream is in that category with Henderson and the others mentioned.

I had heard there's refrigerated trailers and frozen trailers with most on the road being refr anyone know if that's true?

On my carrier I check the delta of the cooled air in the menu on those negative loads. I've always supposed it slowly degrades over time and would be a way to know when it's going downhill but never asked if that's actually true, anyone know?
