That would be lease. Maintenance fees, satellite/communication/dispatch, fuel card…etc. The only thing that a company driver would really have to worry about is finding a way to the house when the job ends. Travel light.

I think SOME trucking companies charge a fee that goes into a damage escrow fund. SOME trucking companies may charge drivers a fee for losing a fuel card or being put out of service or DOT violation.

To the original poster you should read every document you are asked to sign before you sign it. You should talk to drivers at any company before you decide to work at the company. Ask those drivers about any fees. If you won't do these two things YOU are harming yourself, not the company.

If the company offers Per Diem in lieu of/part of your mileage pay, they sometimes charge you a penny or two a mile as a fee to not pay you as much as you should.

And also be fully aware of how Per Diem works and what it does before you sign up for it.

You will have a larger paycheck because Per Diem pay is non-taxable. But that also means that it is not counted as income for things like loans.
Since it is not counted as income it will also decrease your eventual Social Security check when it comes time to take SS.

When i ran cross border company provided a cash float to cover “fees” such as scale costs, lumpers, tolls. Never a dime out my pocket.
