My name is Paul, and I'm new to forums/threads.
5 1/2 years of experience.
I desperately need some advice.
I have a careless driving charge on my record from a preventable accident on 5/15/24.
I've applied with all the 2nd chance bigger companies with no luck.
My Clearing House is clean.
These are the only things on my DVR.
All suggestions are appreciated!!
Thanks!

Hi Paul, welcome aboard. I believe "careless" or "reckless" citation is the absolute worst, aside from killing someone. Going to be hit or miss for a while, maybe that cruise ship job Chinatown suggests, I couldn't think of a better way to clear the driving record,,

It's a bad time to be looking for an OTR job right now. If the economy ever improves you'll have much better luck looking for something then. I'd look for a local job if I were you.

a lot of companies will not hire you. -
So I went to craigslist and found one of those Chicago companies that were hiring company drivers with 1099 pay. They get a lot of negative reviews here so most people stay away from them. But the one I am with turned out to be great and after six months now I am so glad Western Express turned me down. The majority of the bad press comes from leases, so look specifically for a company position, that should be a lot more safe. -
Sometimes these tickets are bogus.
Several years ago(15ish) dad got a ‘Careless Prohibited Driving’ ticket.
You’d think that’d be barreling through a school zone or something.
really while stopped at a construction zone for a flagger, his foot slipped off clutch and he bumped the pickup in front of him, no damage, to it, touched the tow hitch. The bumper on semi had a small dent and scratch. That was it.
But the local cop, the pickup guy called just to have something in writing, wrote that ticket, nothing else came about it, but the insurance company wanted to let him go, 30 years driving with no accidents, explained what happened. They allowed him to stay, but anymore it’s the insurance companies who rule the world.
bit they did say he couldn’t have any tickets for 3 years kinda like probation I’d say.
