Well, honestly, a school isnt going to care. You pay them if you pass the test or not. Now a trucking company that you sell your soul to go to their school (like Swift for example) WILL care.

People think it's so easy to overcome anxieties, "oh, get confident, stupid", but it's not so easy. I happen to suffer from white coat syndrome. I FREAK OUT in a drs. office despite the nurses wishes. I imagine something like this is no different. Not sure it was said, but what part of the skills is causing the hub bub? Backing? Lane position? Braking? It can be intimidating, and about the only cure for that is seat time. As mentioned, schools don't care, they want your money. A company has a vested interest, and probably deals with anxiety better than a school will. The company wants you to succeed, for you and them. A company may put you in a truck, but no trailer, and by all means, take your time.

I can not do things I wanted to do because of one or another reason, but that's alright too.tscottme Thanks this. -

When I started out, I was having problems with backing. It didn't help that my trainer was crap at helping me out. All he did was jump around screaming and dancing like a rapid baboon. I knew the skills, and when I got on my own, I was able to get it down myself.

So it isn't about winning or losing, quitting or sticking to it, it is all about the safety of others around you.201 Thanks this. -

Not everyone is meant to be a trucker to be perfectly honest I regret it and once have a CDL and are a truck driver its like a gang your in it for life. There is other options you can get your CDL and not be a trucker, for example, Mechanics, or join the oil field getting your CDL is nice but is purely a stepping stone, more then just being a truck driver. Become a surveyor, while the last option I mention doesn't need a CDL at all it's like having a gym membership and they pay you stand in places a little while and walk and stand and repeat. Some these trucking companies have mechanic programs. I know Stevens Transport had it when I went through them but they never really advertised it at the time.

160 hour training does not mean a thing, the driver has to learn how to actually drive a truck, all of this crap doesn't mean a thing when they can't even check the oil.
