I used to deliver pizzas in Tucson and I was pulled over fairly often for whatever small infraction.

Was I guilty? Yes, but I knew contesting a ticket and showing up was my only chance to win, and I did so. I can be truculent at times.

I've won twice arguing against police in court. One cop wanted to charge me with something he made up since he couldn't recite the proper charge, but the judge felt he didn't have the authority to allow improperly named charges.

A sheriff's deputy pulled me over for speeding in a residential neighborhood. I was as cordial as can be during our interaction. On the day I showed up in court, the clerk said there was no charging document filed with the ticket, thus there was no fine or need to appear before a judge.

The deputy just wanted me to sweat it, and I was fine with that.

No apology needed, It would appear to me that there has been a mechanical failure, I would hire a lawfirm, and by the way you don't need to have the money, they should accept the case on its contingency plan. The company should be responsible for the whole ball of wax, being a mecnanicial breakdown. I had a steering failure on a casscadia several years ago, CHP wrote it up as a mechanical failure the company was held responsible for everything, even in the report writeen by CHP. And I did and always run a dash cam, much of the time a Gopro is also recording. Glad your OK, good luck.
