I am super paranoid about my 5th wheel, locking jaws and release lever. I look at all 3 anytime I stop. So far, so good, but that 1 time you forget to do it can bite you squarely on the paycheck. I Always check it out just to be sure that no one eyed Willy decided to mess with me. I’ve only been driving for almost 6 weeks now too.

That means the driver didn’t make sure the jaws were closed around the fifth wheel with a visual inspection

There was a rash of Fontaine plates in the past unlocked after a tug test, or locked and had to be torched off. It happens. Only ever seen a few Hollands fail. But you have 3 visuals on a Holland. Adjustment bolt sticking out, handle sticking out, and jaws open.

Very possible for someone to have pulled handle. Always check before you get back in the truck.
