I'm an at will employee. For swift transportation. I have notified my dispatcher that I want to get my belongings out and return the truck back to a terminal and have told them about my situation, and am still awaiting on a (late) call back from management. My problem is I dont have a way to retrieve my personal belongings that I have in the truck if I were to take it back to a terminal before visiting home to remove my belongings I can only move 1 vehicle at a time and have to wait till another day before someone can pick me up. I want to travel using my drive time I have left, without being in violation of my HOS clock. My home 153 miles away. l'm not dispatched or carrying any load, nore will I accept to move any loads that are not heading back to, or closer to home. I want to go home to get my belongings out and then return the truck back to a terminal. As I dont have time on my end to wait for a reply from management. What are the consequences here if I move forward with what must be done?
Quitting an OTR job and getting back home.

Rent a car. Take your belongings home. Return to the truck and turn in the rental car.

Use personal conveyance to drive the truck home, empty it, then return the truck on duty
