What would really help is if they would get rid of CAFE standards. But this is a small step in the right direction, hopefully one that will result in the elimination of EGR from diesel powered vehicles.Deere hunter, broke down plumber, MACK E-6 and 5 others Thank this.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

EGR was never required. It was the dumb### engineers that chose that route to meet the standards. A lot of the large engines over in Europe built the last few years only run a wastegated turbo and no EGR. They clean all the NOx up in the SCR catalyst. Much better design IMO.Deere hunter, Diesel Dave, broke down plumber and 3 others Thank this.

Wyoming Man In Prison For Removing EPA-Mandated Filters Seeks Trump Pardon | Cowboy State Daily
Talk about overkill. A judge who used to work for Cummins sentenced this man to over a year in Federal prison (at Florence, of all places) for deleting diesel engines. I really hope Trump will pardon him.Deere hunter and broke down plumber Thank this. -
He took a plea deal for a one count guilty plea to avoid being charged with multiple counts and avoiding his son being charged. This wasn't a guy doing deletes for a couple of buddies - it was a major part of his business.
-
All that tells me is the manufacturers are using flawed technology and they should be paying for building a terrible product that has to be deleted to run properly.

It doesn't. People just believe that it does. You could say the same about a dropped valve. Just remove it because it's flawed. No it's just defective or poorly maintained and needs to be replaced.
