My teenage son backed into a car in a parking lot. No police called, exchanged insurance info.
His car is insured through my personal policy. Will the accident claim on my personal policy affect my chances of getting approved for commercial insurance next year? My personal history is accident free, clean MVR, 2 years driving experience.
Thank you for time.

That - is - a good question.

It’s off the driving record of your drivers listed, your personal policy will probably go up but you should be good for commercial
Opendeckin and 86scotty Thank this. -
I don't think it will matter, but your commercial insurance as a new venture will be so high it won't matter much anyway.
-
NO.
Are you ready to get your own truck? -
I'm still feeling things out. I haven't decided if I'm going to drive under my own authority, or lease on to a company under someone else's authority. I'd like a pre-emissions, Eld exempt truck. But if I find a company I want to drive for, that requires a certain age or type of truck, I'm willing to be flexible.
-
It's a lot safer to lease on for a year or two til you know the game. Jumping in with new authority and truck is a big gamble, really too big these days.
wis bang and truckovation Thank this. -
That's probably the route I'm going to take. If I can find a decent company with no forced dispatch, I'll be content. Are you leased on, or run on your own authority?
-
Own authority but I drove for about 10 years before I decided to pull the trigger.

While I understand the attraction to pre-emissions power, things can get hard once the unit reaches 20 years old.
That's the age where some insurance carriers stop covering.
