Hey guys. I have a quick question. I might take a load to Cripple Creek. I noticed in my trusty Rand McNally large scale laminated Motor Carriers' Road Atlas that there is a truck restriction on CO-67 to US-24. Do any of you know what it is? Because I just called CDOT at the number listed and they are closed for the day. Gracias por your attention!

Im pretty certain there is no restriction on that part of CO 67. The restriction on CO 67 is way further north from the town of Deckers CO to CO 105.
Edit to add: I just seen the restriction from 24 to cripple creek.
Maybe you have to get a permit or something but, I seen something on Facebook where a carrier moved some kind of machine out of Cripple Creek and took CO67 north out of cripple creek and he was 19 wide. Colorado 67 south of cripple creek if tough with a car, from what ive been reading!! So that has to be the only way in(US-24 to 67)Last edited: Dec 16, 2025
gekko1323 Thanks this. -
Colorado DOT has a pretty good website for restrictions, I used it last year or before hauling wide and long into Montrose and Telluride - it was pretty handy on the fly information before ordering permits.

Are you familiar with that area? Because I have a book on the mountain passes nationwide, and the road to Cripple Creek is not shown. But I know Pike's Peak is nearby, so I figure it must be a donkey trail of some sort. There are a couple of grades further west on US 24, but the book says they aren't too bad.Feedman and blairandgretchen Thank this.

It's been a couple years since I've been up there trucking, but last I was there no permit needed. 67 from 24 is slow going. You'll want your tandems slid up and even then you'll have your hood inches from the guard rail and your trailer tandems riding the double yellow on many of the turns. Lots of 35mph curves.

Yeah, I just spoke to CDOT. The guy said the only restriction is for oversized loads. Anyway, I decided not to go. I'm not in the mood for crazy weather popping up.JMon, tarmadilo, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.
