Holland (and I think all of YRC) was union. Not sure about New Penn but USF Reddaway was part union drivers and part company drivers. I heard some terminals were split. Makes me curious who ended up getting the best deal on the driver side.

Correct a lot of the Holland office staff wasn't management, I just kinda of lump all Non-Union into that bucket.
-
It looks like Standard Forwarding can be added to the list. Reports on Facebook they've shutdown.
-
I read that also, looks like all the executive staff that went over there left in November, not sure what kinda of condition they were in before the Jack Cooper group buyout, but it didn't last long.
I'm surprised not to hear more regional LTL struggles with how bad the market is right now.sabresfan 76 Thanks this. -
I have good reason to believe that T-Force may be the next one to go.
McUzi Thanks this. -
Jesus, is the freight world really that bad right now?
-
I don't think T-Force is in danger of shutting down, I can see them keeping the work force down sized, I can't see anyone buying/merging with them outside of ABF which would cause layoffs due to the overlap in the network. No chance Swift buys them to finish out the AAA Cooper network because they won't want to touch anything to do with a Union, and the same for the rest of the National LTL networks. The parent company TFI has talked about the need for T-Force to be profitable and run an appropriate operation revenue.McUzi Thanks this. -

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you work for a carrier that pays well and doesn't keep you in constant fear of being laid off, you should thank your lucky stars.
Telling you guys right now, my friend went to ABF the day Holland closed their doors. We all thought he had a soft landing until he told us he was getting laid off every single winter and had to go across the country to do a seasonal job to make ends meet. These layoffs hurt a lot. In all honesty, if you get a notice that your position is being eliminated, your company might as well being closing. It really doesn't make any difference at that point.
It's going to be a cold winter for a lot of folks and I hope everyone can get back on their feet.McUzi and gentleroger Thank this. -
The LTL side is real real bad right now, warning signs were there when Yellow went out and it didn't cause a capacity crunch on the industry. TL side rates aren't great and if you have to survive on the broker market things are looking bleak, but if you have a customer base things are manageable.
