The 6 weeks out teaming... I mean training is what's going to keep me away from KLLM. The $2000 fee is the ridiculous cherry on top.

I dropped my hazmat. It came due during Covid. I wasn’t putting up with all that. all other endorsements. Haven’t hauled hazmat in several years. But I’ve hauled everything from phosphoric acid to whiskey in bulk tanks.

They act as if you forget if you don’t do it every day. I haven’t pulled flatbed since 07, but I can still tarp.

I offered the above suggestion for 2 basic reasons:
    • ALL the better-paying carriers (that I'm aware of) will require it:
      • ALL of the LTL fleets
      • the hazmat tanker fleets
      • Dot Transportation (a reefer fleet)
      • Walmart Transportation
      • & still others
    • the current CDL job market is NOT a driver's job market; more endorsements will help you stand out better from your competitors in that stack of applications you will likely be facing
    .....but...it's up to you.

    :dontknow:

I'm sure glad I had mine when I started filling out CDL job applications -- & that was back when the driving job market was a LOT BETTER. o_O

Your list is comical. Is it "ALL" or is it "that I'm aware of"? Because words have meaning.

Thanks to @Chinatown I have spoken to and applied to several companies that will hire me and their training/refresher is only a couple weeks. Also, no BS fees or contracts. Even with all the gloom and doom of not having a hazmat endorsement and the poor condition of the driving job market, they're still hiring people like me!

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I went to Freymiller orientation 2 months ago. I left after orientation...hauling reefer wasn't going to be my best suit, but other than that it looked like a really good company...just low pay.

I'd play the lottery for a living before I volunteered for a 1099 gig. You have all of the expense of operating a truck with none of the freedom and no guarantee of even 1 mile per week.

    Where did you end up?

I called Freymiller from Chinatown's recommendation and they don't hire out of Mississippi, except for a dedicated account that they're not hiring for at the moment.

    Lonwolv54 and Chinatown Thank this.

Oh shoot, I'm sorry hear that. I went back to Swift. Swift's not a bad company. It's laid back, back in 2019 and, laid back now.

    Lonwolv54 and MattaCracker Thank this.
