That's what you get as a 1099? If so, you think that's good?

I think it’s fair pay for the work I do.

Screw that! I and many others bring home $1500-$2000 a week. That’s after taxes, insurance, short/long term disability insurance, a hefty 401k contribution and coupled with a months paid vacation and 6 paid holidays.

How much of that $2200 is left after you set aside your tax?

Agreed... 10% 401k included. 1099 isn't worth it, especially not in your economy IN MY OPINION. I know there are OGs doing their thing out there. Much respect to those guys.

I have no idea why you are boasting about a 401k that is very much a gamble. As learned in 2008.

Very interesting. Post a breakdown of the pay stub. Sounds like a good gig to me. I enjoy taking as much time off as I want that’s why I do 1099. I’m not a fan of 2-3 week vacations during the year.

Would you also show us your health care receipt? Your 15.3% for SS and medicare in your old age? Incidental expenses? As a W-2 employee I could do my taxes for free online, no accountant. I made over 100K/year the last few years.. I'm retired now, but I drove linehaul my last ten years, 2650 miles a week. Slept in my own bed. Company matched the first 3% I put in 401K. (BTW- that's allowed me to retire. No mortgage, no debt and a few bucks put away). Yeah, I was forced to take 3 weeks of PAID vacation a year, boy did that suck! Getting to spend lots of time with the people who are important to me, what a waste. Yeah, you got me, I was a sucker.

I break my vacation down to individual days. Like working 2 or 3 days and cashing in a few days to make up for it. As for the long vacations, I’m the same way. I’ve done enough traveling to last me a lifetime. No real need for two weeks off straight.

Oh I’ll take my chances. I definitely don’t want to have a CDL to far into my 60’s.
