Thank you. I will keep the 15 wide rule of thumb in mind with over dimensional loads. What about for height? Over 15ft as well? (Obviously depending on the area: everywhere except the North East)

All im saying is ive read thru all ur threads and know the exact path youre on. If you plan is either to scrape by or go broke. Well youre already broke my friend. If your truck was aquired thru a lease purchase, me personally i would see about getting out of that contract and finding something else to do.. your company doesnt care about you, nor does this business, nor does any shop, or any customer. Actually the only people that care about you is yourself, and the people on this forum trying to help you see the path youre on, is not a great one...
The biggest cause of failure in this business is undercapitalization. No matter how smart or educated and experienced you are, if you aint got the money to pay the bills, and then your equipment starts needing a bunch of work and then you got downtime, and lack of work etc.. these problems are solved by money, and money only.. nothing else.
Me personally i would give my truck back to the company and take my loss and go find somethin else to do in this industry to rebuild my bank account... I hate to watch a guy go down the same path i have because i know where it leads and its not a fun time. But only you at the end of the day can make these choices.. pride dont pay the bills at the end of the day, and scraping by or going broke aint a very good business plan. At that point youre already done, just wasting your time and whatever cash you have left..

If you want feel free to pm me if you need someone to bounce ideas off of. Like i said most any contracts can be gotton out of. Ive also done a lease purchase. I dont claim to know anything about trucking, but im a couple miles further down the road that youre on and still trying to find my way back. I might be able to show you what youre future might look like..actually your story and mine practically parallel eachother.

No - it’s the 12’ wide rule of thumb for width. Thats where it starts to cost accessorial $$.

Over 13’6” is where you need to pay attention in height.

I said over dimensional. You didn’t think about it. Height is where you exponentially trash things.

Just sell the truck, get out now, and save some lives.

Your stubbornness, even with the grace of many other driver’s knowledge, . . .

Thank you. I will in the near future PM you. I would have replied earlier but I was changing back to my trailer and then I got a decent load to Las Vegas. Seems like I’m taking a gamble! Agree with you on money and cash flow completely! I do have some money left in the bank and no balance on my credit cards. Have about $60k in credit card limit and $15k cash on hand. As long as nothing crazy like I just went through comes my way I should be ok. I can lease my truck and trailer onto another company but I am comfortable here even with just loadboard cargo. The company does provide guarantees for instance the truck went down within a month of purchasing it from them and they agreed to stop truck and trailer payments plus cargo insurance. I was on the hook for bobtail physical damage because I have that through GEICO who gave me a good deal and was way cheaper than the company I’m leased onto. I don’t mind on failing. I already have my house in California as my retirement plan. I am not worried about going bankrupt because of the homestead exemption in California. I have no dependents and only myself to feed. That’s my reasoning for willing to take a slightly uncalculated risk. I’m happy to try to make this heavy haul work I just know how much it sucks when someone gets off this trucking roller coaster and then try’s to get back on. For now, I just want to learn heavy haul.

Ouch. I have a 13”10ft load but in my GPS and permits I put 14ft. Bridges don’t just make me nervous: tree branches, traffic lights, telephone cables etc. I maybe green and many other things, but I truly try to be safe and not negatively affect the motoring public. I have another dozer that’s 88k LBS I am driving 55-60 on the freeway because I do t want to pop a tire or airbag and possibly hurt someone. Any and all safety tips and getting the job done tips are appreciated. Just no: quit, your going to hurt someone , your going to kill someone, your going to f up your trailer tips. That’s too easy!

You just said GPS. I hope you have a height stick, and for the love of all that is good, stay below 14’ tall until you have all the rest of this figured out.

cke, AFC and Oxbow Thank this.

@AFC , I am just asking, is that lease one of those with the $1 buy out at the end?

GM. No lease. Monthly payments until loan is payed off. I plan on asking them to make the payments weekly because monthly can be problematic with how high the payments are for both truck and trailer.

Ahh, alright. I thought you had a lease purchase thing. My bad. That is a nice truck you have, though and, good morning to you as well, Sir.
