When you clean out/exit your tractor -- be sure you do a thorough job with that.

Just before walking away from said tractor --- it's not a bad idea AT ALL -- to take photographs of the exterior (& interior) of the truck; this documents the exact condition of the vehicle at your departure -- & thus, no one can later blame you for someone else's later booboo.

    CYA!!! o_O

True, but every field has fertilizer to wade through. I just need to make enough money for the fertilizer I’m wading through.

    When I left Schneider -- I left via a two-week written notice.

    Later...I encountered no problems.

But....that was then, & this is now.

Also -- I was part of their intermodal fleet....& was working with true professionals.

    Every situation is different.

You really want less fertilizer at your next carrier; you also want it to smell better.

I’m pretty sure the company I’m going to is 100x better. I’ve talked to a lot of people who drive for them and I haven’t heard a lot of complaints. And, I will be running the lower 48 which is what I really wanted to do from the beginning. The benefits are so much better and the pay is higher by quite a bit.

When I left Schneider as a tanker company guy in Sep'23 after 2 years, I spent a day scrubbing out my tractor, packing the rental car and turning in my gear at the company Ecolab lot in Martinsburg WV. Had a decent DTL then (V. Gonzales) and I had given them a 2 weeks notice. I wanted to give in person because he was a very good boss (and we still chitchat now and again), but KAG had called for verification of employment before I could tell him.

I worked out my 2 weeks, even had the regional tanker manager and some person from Green Bay come to Martinsburg to do an exit interview about why I was leaving. I explained it was because SNBC changed over to hourly pay, and doing the same work load per week on the new pay paid out $250 less per week for the guys who hustled, safely. Corporate said they'd see what they could do, I didn't wait around. DTL gave me a ride to pick the rental car.

Spent all day scrubbing that tractor like new, turn in the keys, left behind the microwave for the next guy, and the Keurig and LED lights because I was going Cryo, home everynight. Carlisle OC called me next week because they have to remove everything, asked if I was gonna get it. They're require to scrub the truck before they issue it again.

I say all this because I'm back at SNBC, but as an O/op, and I'm glad I didn't burn that bridge down. KAG was good for a time, then they weren't and deciding to go O/OP wasn't even in my plan back then....so give the 2 weeks, you never know when you might need it.

    Cherokee65,
I can't wait for you to reveal your new company. Take all the good advice from everyone here and be sure to take the time to empty as much as you can from your truck while you are at the terminal. Clean it and do take pictures for verification as you do not know how picky they will be when you post your 2 weeks notice. If they do honor your 2 weeks it will be easier to move out of your truck if you are not at your home terminal. Be prepared to get a rental car in case you are not at your home terminal. Good luck and keep us informed.
