I've been a professional Commercial Driver for over 20 years and I thought I saw it all....
What can I say about Don's Cold Storage?
I honestly tried to find a shred of decency about them to speak of, but pity...nothing good at all comes to mind.
This company by far has the most shoddy, filthy, low maintenance equipment that I have ever experienced in a bottom of the barrel type company, which describes them perfectly, and I've truly seen nothing lower anywhere!
In my opinion, Management is overworked and forced to wear too many "hats" within the company. The on going display of unprofessional behavior on a daily basis is unbecoming of any individual placed in that particular role.
The foul language used towards the drivers, when under stress or simply conversing at a safety meeting is telling of an individual that lacks competence, experience and leadership.
The top Hog in the trough is not much different and displays a bolsterous carefree or maybe even reckless behavior of an owner of any company I've ever encountered.
He doesn't have the proper attitude required to run a successful business, and knows nothing about employee retention, hence the revolving door effect and HIGH TURN OVER with their commercial drivers...
Enough about the top-hawgs...let's talk about the on going DOT violations....
Most tractors are in very bad condition. The several tractors recently purchased are not much better and have mechanical issues as well.
Drivers are informed at meetings never to fill out the daily DVIR forms. Management doesn't want the DOT to find out how shoddy their equipment really is during an audit, is what drivers are told.
A side sheet of paper labeled "MAINTENANCE REQUEST" is the only document allowed to utilize for driver vehicle inspections and maintenance requests from small to the major repairs, mostly ignored and most of which aren't ever repaired.
As a Don's driver, you do have a choice between driving that broken down truck until it fails, then switching into another truck (if available)in the middle of your shift with a different set of issues, road worthy violations or going home early for lack of decent equipment to drive for the day. ...
In closing, my genuinely honest and sincere approach to other drivers considering working for Don's Cold Storage....
Do yourself a favor. Do your due diligence before choosing a trucking company to hang your license on.
Integrity, honesty and respect is always an important factor along with decent equipment and pay.
The choice is yours

All that bad, and the best you can come up with is some caked on grease and a bald tire?
You should have 10-20 pics to go along with that novelVoodoo Pyg, Puppage and bryan21384 Thank this. -
yeah. You're right. Help me understand how to visually post "air leaks" and I will greatly appreciate ya!JonJon78, Lonesome, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 1 other person Thank this.

Gotcha. So truck maintenance was so bad that you couldn't get through a full shift without switching trucks, and it was all air leaks, besides a single tire that a driver let get bald?
I believe yabryan21384 Thanks this. -
To be fair, neither of those tires would pass a road side inspection and would put you OOS.
It doesnt look like a PSI issue.
If something as simple as tires are allowed to get that bad, id imagine the trucks themselves ain't any better.snowlauncher, JonJon78, BRW65 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've seen the trucks at Don's. I've picked up loads there a number of times. They run modern equipment. If it were me, i would have just communicated these minor and easily fixable issues. I really was expecting a report about having to be on the back of a tow truck all the time. I can't imagine they're that bad. Maybe the safety dept curses out drivers, as you say, because of incompetence? They don't so a pre trip or post trip? If I had drivers that willingly drove tires down like that, I'd be cursing them out too.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Fixed it for you. That tire didn't go bald sitting there. Who's responsible for driving it to that point?bryan21384 Thanks this.

Where might said company be located?
