That’s the truth but when having almost a $200k truck and dealing with “should I go through warranty because the dealership states that my cylinder head is leaking or just keep rolling and address it when it starts affecting how the truck drives” is a decision I’m not used to.

There are a lot of folks in this thread that are used to deciding things like that, what had they told you to do? You are gonna have to accept some advice at some point, or you are a guaranteed failure. Contrary to some people‘s opinion, there are NOT prizes for everybody.

Welcome to truck ownership bro.. theres always something breaking. The last company i was with was overhauling engines with 200k on them because they blew the head gasket from dropped liners..typical cummins. 2023 model trucks... I had 2025 kenworth that would throw every dash light in the book when it rained because the sensors were getting wet. Had a 2023 567 pete that leaked like mfer between the sleeper and cab when it rained. Entire floor was wet, also came in thru the side box and flooded everything in there.. point being, if ur gonna run paccar equipment expect it to need wrenched on all the time... Being a new truck doesnt gurantee anything. The quality control on these trucks that leave the factory now is dog #### and that might be insulting to dog ####.

Don't feel bad - I have limited tools and experience, and my engine rebuilding days were 25 years ago on gasoline engines. I can change parts, and if I LISTEN to advice from other folks, I can figure out and fix more complex stuff.

@D.Tibbitt just went through an engine rebuild by himself, with many questions asked and answered by several members here that do rebuild engines and wrench on a daily basis - @wore out , @sawmill - you even skipped over @pushbroom - that's his JOB. If they have time to impart knowledge - PAY ATTENTION.

What I'm saying is - slow down a bit, and read carefully. There is literally millions of dollars of experience and advice here - they can all tell you what you need to do, but they can't make you read or understand.

To continue with what D.tibbitt posted.

I am running a Mack Granite currently.

380,xxx km on it so about 238,xxx miles.

Tuesday it was -20c and snowing to beat heck.
About 2 hours into my day the yellow check light comes on as well as the traction control light and ABS light.

So if this was your truck, what do you do? Shut down and head to a mechanic or keep running?

Experience tells me that the wheel speed sensor(s) got moisture in them, causing the faults.

I kept driving, as when the sensors dry out, the lights will go off and all is good again.

We park all our trucks I doors at night, over 50 trucks parked in the barn. Wednesday I started the truck up, warning lights are still on. Why...because with all the snow melting off the trucks, the sensors stayed wet.

Today the sensors dried out and the lights went out. - 30c is dry air lol.

This happens in the Kenworths, Volvo and Freightliners I have driven, probably happens in all trucks.

Learning what is a problem and what isn't will save you significant stress, downtime and money. This comes from experience, forums like this where other drivers have been there done that etc.

I will respond to all comments over the weekend. But I do have a quick question. How important are jack stands? Since I will start working on my equipment should I buy a pair? Harbor Freight has a pair on sale for $150. Are they worth carrying them in my truck?

    D.Tibbitt and Oxbow Thank this.

    No.

In my opinion you should be buying tools as you absolutely need them. Your tare is going to be 60k before you know it if you pack Harbor Freight with you.
