It really wasn't bad. The worst part was the Mass Pike salt shakers were doing gang plowing 15-20 miles before the I-84 turn off. Right now I am sitting at the shipper and it's partly cloudy and in the upper 30's....this traffic and weather brought to you by effitall.

Good thing it was a van trailer and they don’t have a tank division, he would’ve drowned trying to put load locks in.hope not dumb twucker, MACK E-6, Modlite11 and 4 others Thank this.

My turn on the "let's unalive the last driver" MerryGoRound.
Just came off of hometime and picked up a tcalled trailer at Wilmer. Freshly serviced! (Imagine THAT...LOL) Didn't notice anything wrong with it at time I picked it up. Has 3 stops in KS, MO and IA. I get to the first stop, pop the seal off before docking and the entire lower half of the door latch assembly just swings free when I lift the handle out of the latch. The darned thing is attached by a single bolt that's almost pulled out of the door frame. The second bolt is nowhere to be seen.
Unfortunately, I can't fault Wilmer shop on not noticing the issue as the handle covers up the missing bolt so no way it can be seen... BUT the load was a live load at the shipper so the last driver HAD to know about it, not only at loading but when unloaded or picking up the empty from last reciever.
Now I have 2 more stops with this broken handle. Im using both my enforcer lock AND a roll up door lock to keep everything in place so in case the lower latch assembly comes completely separated from the door.
I let dispatch and breakdown know about it but they both seemed to not really give a crap.
What a way to start a 4 week tour...lol. Some days it just ain't worth getting out of bed... -
That's a park and don't go anywhere but somewhere to get it fixed.
I don't care if load is late. I'm not driving around with a unsecured door. Because you can 100% bet after deliveries. They will still attempt to avoid sending you somewhere to get it fixed.Friend, hope not dumb twucker and LowBeam Thank this. -
The enforcer lock is a big frame type lock that goes around the knuckle bars that hold the top and bottom knuckles that turn into the body fittings. No chance of it opening. The bars are well attached. Its just the latch thats busted due to missing bolt. The latch can't be fixed while there's freight on it due to the required seal. So there's really no choice but to finish the deliveries.
And as to the company not letting me get it fixed, Crete really isn't like that. The company shops may be a bit unmotivated but the breakdown department is usually very good about getting repairs done on the road. I've already got directions on where to take the trailer after empty.
This isnt my trailer, just for the record...lol
Friend, Lonesome, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
You must have been here a while, they stopped passing out the double bar locks, now they only give you the lock that locks it in place.Friend, Lonesome, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this.
