How the heck do you put up with this? Reefer and sitting.

We don't deal with the same shippers/receivers @Tb0n3 . The ones I deal w/ ask for my # so that they can call me when a door is available. I can understand why you'd stress, but I we live two different realities on this road. I haven't experienced any of what you've mentioned at this company. It's actually the easiest trucking job I've had over my 12 year career tbh

Sounds like you are on with the wrong company.

Feels like the OP is running load board refer stuff.

I was fortunate in that most of the refer stuff I ran was from established accounts and shippers.

One place that I was leased to as an Owner OP was the internal long haul group for a produce company.

After calling dispatch the third time about a messed up shipper, the dispatcher conferenced in the corporate buyer. Buyer had heard enough and decided to mess with the shipper and canceled a weeks worth of product. That was 35 truck loads of produce. Corporate had a minimum of 5 truck a day coming out of that place. Over the next 6 months that I was with that company I was never dispatched back to either of their locations. Not sure fences were ever mended.

This all started with a delivery to a grocery warehouse in New Jersey that the took 17 hours start to finish. Primarily because of the snow storm but also being a refrigerated Warehouse for a grocery chain. Wakefern in keasbey, New Jersey. After that I was able to finish up my sleep in their yard though they knocked on my door after 3 hours asking if I was leaving. After that it was a fairly short trip to pick up frozen foods and that loaded fairly quick but straight from there to c&s. So my clock was already running short just to finish up. Once my clock was out and my trailer was empty they told me to kick rocks.

The first stop was actually a load for a local food maker, not some random company. Neither were brokered, at least not externally.

As long as I'm running flatbed, I'm happy. Making money running fairly relaxed. I'm thinking about telling the company never to put me on refer ever again.

    -Grocery warehouse in NJ
    -Keasby
    -Wakefern

This one checked all the boxes.

Everything about this load was wrong from the start.

Do you drive for a mega fleet ?

No. I've been driving for this company for 10 years. I've always been hesitant about running refer when the plants shut down for our typical flatbed loads, but it's never been this bad. I'm always on edge dealing with warehouses though. I was almost back to normal until the reports predicting the snowpocalypse in NJ required me to turn back on my regular load because the customers would be too busy digging out to unload me. Company tries to keep us busy, but again, I think I'll be happy not working instead of dealing with this refer crap.

Did the winter storms throw off dispatches plans?

Communication is one of the keys. Keep Dispatch up to date on the things that could cause stress for either of you. That may include letting them know to reschedule the delivery for a non accommodating receiver, or at least dispatch asking the receiver to allow taking some time in their yard.

Dispatch is like a manager, they can't properly manage if they don't know what's going on.

The only reefer work to be involved in is with a private fleet.
