Im addition to what everyone else has said, there's also the matter of fuel economy. Running with less than 3/4 tanks results in a non negligible fuel savings. The extra stops don't impact driver productivenes, and despite someone expressing their belief that starters are fragile things, there is no real hit to maintenance costs. When Schneider tested it out they figured about a 2% fuel costs savings if they got better than 70% compliance, up to about 4% at 90% compliance.
On a one truck operation that's $1-2,000 a year. Not really worth it. Scaled up to a fleet Crete's size and suddenly looking at a $300,000 in net profit. The only reason Schneider decided to to enact this type of operation was they didn't want the headache of trying to get the necessary compliance.

Have you looked at the Holland thread? The people there seem satisfied, and are getting miles.

I have, but like some have posted over on their thread, the math doesn't add up...at the rate per mile they pay, you'd have to run 15,000 miles a month to make acceptable money. I like running hard, but I want it to be for a better paycheck, not just for the fun of it.navypoppop, Friend, Rugerfan and 2 others Thank this.

The fuel solution system is totally insane. My AM changed this load in the system from a T-call in Phoenix back to a delivery in Romeoville. But that change only took place in the system, the co-pilot on my truck tablet still showed it as part of my route. I even had to request a fuel solution when I picked the load up so I could see where it wanted me to fuel. However, it added all my fuel stops to the list before the t-call back in Phoenix, and my final fuel stop was Higginsville, MO. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except, it wanted me to go 35 out of Wichita up to KC then across 70 all the way to St. Louis, then up 55. Running the numbers, that added a lot of unpaid miles. I routed myself up 35, around KC to Cameron, MO, then across US 36/I-72 to Springfield IL then up 55. My route was 30+ miles shorter than the load info's miles, and way shorter than the route I would have had to take following the co-pilot, even with me going back to the terminal after unloading in Goodyear(because it took until 21:00, and there wasn't a snowballs chance there would be any parking around Phoenix. ) It was way shorter my way, plus way less traffic. The problem came when I went to get a new solution. Since it thought I still needed to t-call in Phoenix, all my new fuel stops were west of me by a lot. I finally just sent in the t-call and cleared it out, then said I stopped at Higginsville. Now I am in Jacksonville IL, headed east and my new solution wants me to go to Kingdom City, put in 60 gal, then go all the way back to Higginsville to fill up, then head back thru St. Louis up to Romeoville. I know fuel is high and going up, but ####...

Ehh, never heard each location varies, if you fuel at Loves for instance it’s the same across the board at my previous employers. 33 years, that’s the first time I heard that

When I was at SPD we could use the WEX app, the discounts varied from location to location, even within the same state. Some of the fuel solutions here at Creaffer will occasionally send us to underperforming locations, usually those teenie tiny Pilots.kylefitzy, Friend, navypoppop and 2 others Thank this.

Thx! … Interesting, I haven’t worked for a mega since my USX & FFE days back in the 90s & early 2000s. Mostly small outfits since. I was thinking about trying them since I’ll be living in Florida to finish my career but …Friend and navypoppop Thank this.

And for those who come on here just to rag on me and critique my every post (some graphic lyrics, possibly offensive to some)...this not aimed at those who offer genuine info in an attempt to help, it's for those who only say something when I am on one of my rant-fest posts and say nothing when I have something positive to post.

It's not a small difference either. For Schneider, the Pilot in Lowell, IN was usually 15 to 30 cents cheaper than the Flying J across the street. Down by St Louis, Troy was the cheapest followed by Pontoon Beach, East St Louis, and Alorton.
A couple years ago Schneider changed their pay structure to 'simplify it'. Part of the change was removing all bonus metrics except fuel economy (previously we had to have 80% compliance with the fuel solution). A little more than 6 months after the change the Ops started sending "we need to follow the fuel solution messages". Without the bonus carrot, drivers just started fueling at any Pilot and it cost the company big time.Friend, 48Packard, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this.
