Everyone?
Nope.![]()
Way too many examples of this in the news, of late...sadly.
If you're from out of country.....In that case -- it's basically "open season"...& you can apparently get a CDL from a Cracker Jack box -- & start running loads.

You can get a CDL out of cracker jack box and run loads being American born too..... you only gotta go to school 3 weeks. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I really was making reference to the reputable companies though.. I should have clarified -
Not a lie spoken! I knew there was shady stuff going on but the Terrell Texas crash really spilled the beans. Tanya Eiserer of WFAA Dallas has done a deep dive into the shadiness of some of these fly by night companies. The company that crashed in Terrell had code words via text for someone to manipulate the logs to make more hours magically appear. The driver who’s been in jail since the accident has out right admitted he slept through the whole crash.
But to the OP, yes you’ll need a refresher course for any reputable company that’s willing to get you back into the industry.MagsA12 and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Well, I'll say it, why?
Let's see, 15 years, so 2011? The world was a very different place, my friend, and I'd be the first to try and talk you out of it. With as many non-trucking jobs that are out there today, most that pay as good, or better than trucking, I always feel bad for someone that after so long, would even consider going back, ESPECIALLY flatbed. You can do it, no issue finding work, not many success stories of older drivers going back, and many find it's not what they remembered. Not sure your age, but got to be something you've been interested in besides trucking. Cruise ship cook?
Good luck.
Numb Thanks this. -
out for 15, how many years driving? Just a gut feeling, i Would put you behind the wheel, go for a ride, i will be able to tell if you still have it. a small company, if and, i think IF, i would hire you on the spot. Just keep me out of court. Id put you through driving on the road, then in the yard. Backing, Blind Side, multiple times, cones S`shape backing, Turning curve see how close you can get to the curb without hitting it.and your Pre Trip which will be the first thing. I will know within an hour. I think you still have it bud, show your confidence when you meet with someone. Good Luck

You’d love the place I used years ago then. All it took for me was 5 Saturdays on the road with a single screw L-model Ford and a pup trailer, 90 mins each.
The difference is some of us actually took pride in our work while the majority of the new breed obviously doesn’t.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
Punctuation! I'm out of breath
