I'm a hardware weirdo, years ago when I worked for Carquest, during inventory season I would volunteer to do the hardware rack. Got a lot of funny looks at first cuz who, in their right mind, would want to spend hours checking, rearranging and counting literally thousands of nuts, bolts, screws and washers? I found it quite cathartic to make the effort to insure that it was done correctly, probably for the first time ever in that store. The funny looks stopped within a few days when everyone realized that what was in the bins was an accurate reflection of the labels on the bins.

I never was much of a salesman, but I was darn good at making sure there was a place for everything and everything was in its place and that what the computer said we had was actually on the shelf. Only job I've ever had that I enjoyed more than driving, too bad it didn't pay worth a darn.

That would be right up my alley also, drives me nuts when I find the wrong threaded bolt mixed in with the group so I go through when I am looking and put everything in the spot they are supposed to be in. Always tell my wife when I retire from trucking I am working at the local hardware store, she says then you are not retired, I have no real want to fully retire and do nothing

I hired a kid to help clean up the shop last summer. He "organized" the bolt bins...when he got done there was mismatched lengths and sizes, rusty used bolts in the new ones, grade 5 mixed with grade 8, fine thread mixed with coarse.

I don't ask for help with it anymore. I'll just do it myself.

I used to get excited when I found a nickel or a dime. Nowadays SS washers are a bigger thrill. $$$$.

Hey @blairandgretchen I think I remember you putting an oil bypass filter on your ride. Care to share which one and how it performs?

I’m not sure what he used but, I put on an amsoil one… super easy to install. The filters are kinda expensive but I changed them every 15k ishwith the oil change. Reman motor was at 900k when it went to auction with 0 repairs.

Just what @Tug Toy said - go the Amsoil.

I used a FS-1000 system but the filter change was messy. The Amsoil Bp-150 (??) is a one gallon spin on - $45 for the filter, has a sample port in the head (may have to ask for it), kit comes with hoses - and they tell you you can go out to 50k miles with it. I typically change at 20-30k, whenever my samples say it's time.
