Congrats Blair. I had pretty much quit drinking in 2015 when I almost became a lake statistic over memorial Day weekend. After that I would just drink here and there. The past couple years I've been changing the way I eat and I've cut out all sugar so that stopped my drinking altogether since alcohol turns to sugar in our body. I still have times when I want a beer but it's just not worth it to me. Your drive and determination that you have will keep you on the right path, this i have no doubt about.

A couple of Fridays ago the neighbors' son sent me a Facebook deal about a data center , that I initially thought was a joke - turns out it's not.

Fast forward to last week, I signed up to FB after years of not being on it, just to stay informed on this one. Geronimo Power has been sneaking around leasing land for solar, and offering to buy a large chunk of land for a 'Powered Data Park'.

The proposed site is 2.3 miles north of our house, and a lot closer to a lot more neighbors that are not remotely happy with the idea. Unfortunately - Jasper County, MO has no zoning restrictions, (the reason people move here) - the site is close to an electric substation, close to Spring River, and a prime spot for these a-holes to divide and conquer.

I reached out to the kid (27) that first became aware of it, and we ran up a video to catch everyone in the FB group up with where we're at on fighting it.

Joplin,MO has also been targeted for a project that has been approved by the same developer.

Never thought a data center would be a potential neighbor out here - but, here we are.

There is so many of them going up in the southwest. Ive probably worked 20+ different data center jobsites between az and nv alone. And thats barely a drop in the bucket. and some of them go up right next to subdivisions.

Talking to an O/O this morning at Flying J in Tye Tx. just west of Abilene. He said they’re building 5 of them in that area. He plans on being busy a long time hauling aggregate.

Yep going up all over, they are spending trillions of dollars on this crap and it is worth absolutely nothing. On top of that they are horrible for the surrounding environment, the water needed to cool the computers is the biggest problem, that and energy usage

I get a whole huckster convention and snake oil sale circus combined vibe from that stuff. I'm kinda hoping for a collapse of AI along the lines of the real estate collapse of 2008, We are due for another crap show like that, In both investment banking and AI stock market casinos

On the brighter side it brought this back to my caffeine deprived brain. Raising a cup of Joe to toast everybody a what ever their version of good day.

The collapse is already starting . Facebook shutdown their metaverse bs couple weeks ago. Suno just shutdown their ai video creation platform... Ai will stick around in some capacity when it comes to robots and computer stuff but all the content creation stuff is going to be imploded in the short future.. not to mention the back to back lawsuits meta just lost for the person that sued them on grounds of social media addiction... That has some interesting implications for the future of all of this stuff.
