One thing about trucking that drivers need to understand is the difference between shippers/receivers who do not worry too much about appointments and those who do. My last year on the road, I was in and out of the Henderson, NC, DC a lot. I remember clearly picking up a General Mills load in Joplin* that went to that DC. I had trouble from the beginning. I broke down about halfway between Joplin and Memphis. Then had a reefer issue near Knoxville. I was 2 days past my original appointment time when I finally got there. I had to layover at a truckstop north for a day, but my company got me another appointment. When it comes to appointments, BE ON TIME! If you see you won't make it, let your company know BEFORE you arrive there, only to get turned away.
* Yes, I know General Mills reportedly closed their Joplin plant. My story happened almost 2 decades ago.
it is just me or is walmart and very shady shipper reciever against drivers

No lie. I'll keep callin Billy or Joe Bob for directions into TMOFN. I don't often get an address, and that's ok. Their directions are spot on, and they're always happy I'm bringing their siht.nextgentrucker Thanks this.
