Used to you could put on 50 gallons with fuel card to get you to the nearest authorized fuel stop. I’m not running out in middle if nowhere cause they won’t allow me fuel it goes to truck stop. Not sure if road knowing it’s not gonna make it.
I got close to running out twice in my career. Increase with truck with 2 70 gallon tanks and i got held at receiver for days.
Next was in my kw, going to hoods, some idiot crashed and the road was shut down. I sat there for a lot longer than intended.
Now i fuel when I got 1/4 tank. Sometimes more than if I’m not familiar with the area.

So why’d you keep going with fuel on E with lights flashing?

This driver isn't going to answer. Even if they do, you'll just get a pissy response.Trucker61016 and tscottme Thank this.

Now that's real funny.

Going out on the highway low on fuel in winter is not smart. Great way to freeze to death, especially up here where 35 below happens regularly.
Albertaflatbed and Voodoo Pyg Thank this. -
I'm skeptical

A lot of drivers today do not know that HireRight got sued...big time...a long time ago. Today, the DAC is regulated under (believe it or not) the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the very same rules that govern actual credit reports. In that way, DAC can be disputed EXACTLY like a possible error on a credit report. If the entry is not true, it will be removed. That's law, now. Even if the entry is true, if the reporting agency does not properly reply within the prescribed amount of time, the entry is removed. Just like a credit report.
If this guy says he did all that, then I question his story. Rookies running out of fuel at least once is kinda normal. Swift knows how to handle that. They may ask a driver to share the cost, but aside from that they WILL get you enough fuel to get to a proper fuel stop - EVEN IF THEY INTEND TO FIRE YOU. They want the rig back and the freight. They ain't gonna leave someone on the side of the road for 3 full days...especially in a snowstorm??
Anyway, this one obviously did not do what he claims in contacting DAC/HireRight to dispute the entry. It may take a bit to finish said claim, but it is easy to submit. And they are responsive. Due to that lawsuit many years back, they have to be.Trucker61016, Voodoo Pyg, hope not dumb twucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Nah. After a couple days, the Beaver would've called for a welfare check...even if just to get the truck out of their sight.hope not dumb twucker, bryan21384 and Lonesome Thank this.
