    Left the service plaza north of Augusta, ME yesterday morning, and I am now sitting at the Peelot in Troy, IL 650 miles yesterday, 660 today. Only have 258 to deliver on Monday...did I have to run it that hard? No. Did I want to, yes.

    I'm curious how much money that particular stretch of highway (especially the Indy to Ohio portion) costs the trucking industry in maintenance. It's not just beating your arse... it does the same to equipment. The sheer amount of rubber gators and random metal debris on the shoulder is pretty solid evidence that not everyone who attempts that run escapes without a blow to the ol wallet.

    Spring ride? Does that mean manual tandem pins as well? Couldn't imagine one of the biggest companies out there using leaf spring trailers.

    They save money on equipment by not having the air release tandems.....same with our trucks even new ones still having drum brakes.... despite I bet disc brakes would save on tire issues related to the brake heat ...

    Only on the vans. The reefers are more modern with air ride and air release.

    You know why? No nannying. The only contact I have had with my new asset manager was the initial introduction call, and when I updated my RDO and that's it. No "will you make OTD" or "this is a hyper care load, we will be watching".... First load had a scheduling SNAFU, and it was resolved within minutes. No BS'ing around waiting. Pre-planned on a load well before I deliver, Not one temp mismatch, not one failed load call. It's just how I like it. Sent load info, pick up load, get enroute, before I deliver I am sent a preplan, deliver, next load pops up...rinse and repeat.
