How many guys were working the trailer? If it takes 5 seconds to move a piece, than 1,800 picies would take one person 2.5 hours. Personally, restacking 1 pallet is going to take me about 15 minutes, so 24 pallets is going g to take at least 5 hours by myself, more if I have to get each pallet signed off on.

How far did the pallet have to go once off the truck? If it's a 400 foot round trip, just moving 28 pallets is going to be about an hour. If they're double stacked, add 20 minutes to down stack and double transit time. Pinwheeling is going to add another 20 minutes. Without re-palletizing anything you're already looking at 2 hours.

Now make it a mixed load where different pallets go to different spots in the warehouse. Or have the 40 m pallets breakdown into 300 different pallets.

There are plenty of reasons why these unloads can get ridiculous.

2 words - Capstone Logistics. They're the dominant lumper service out here now and most companies don't allow drivers to lump their own loads due to the possibility of liability for an injury and a workers comp claim. So that leaves it up to the only other option, and the lumper service knows it, so you can sit and wait or refuse to haul a load there.

They changed my load going to TX. Instead of Compton to Plainview for anytime this weekend, I am picking up between Compton and LA (the address says LA, but not way in town.). And it is going to New Braunfels for Tuesday. In the morning, I am gonna see if they can get the drop date changed to Monday (I can actually be there Sunday afternoon). It's Walmart, so who knows what the possibilities are.

That New Braunfels drop is a Sam’s Distribution Center. Been there many times. The MT’s are located on a gravel lot north of the center on Old Bastrop Road if none are at the drop. Just go north on I-35 and take the Old Bastrop Road exit.

You're special...when ever I have left in the past, they cut and paste Deland's #2's name on the message...you got a canned message from El Presidente himself.

Not delivering to the main Costco facility. I am delivering to an alternate warehouse almost across the street from the light at the Mira Loma J. Definitely not the same "Costco" experience. Only 2 trucks here, I was here 1st, but they're unloading the other guy 1st. Already had to get with dispatch because there is now no way I will make my 10 am loading appointment since I have 60 miles of LA traffic to deal with once I am unloaded. They changed my appointment to an all day window. I may just deliver that load as it's planned. I can get to the T/A in New Brunfels by Sunday and put in a 34. That will start me out with o.k. miles and a fresh clock for next week.

On a side note, it still is weird to see those all electric yard trucks just silently moving around. You don't even hear any electric motor noise as they pass by.
