I like your attitude with the above statement.
I run oversize and often with pilot cars, so I need one (as per state laws re: oversized moves).
It's on 90% of the time. You'll find a lot more open deck and bull haulers run them.
I agree with most all of the comments here , for and against. There's a CB sub forum here if you do decide to get one, to answer what would be best for your setup - if you do decide to get one.
Last week, late at night, out of hours, in KY at a Pilot. Place was full. A driver keyed up and asked if I needed a place to park - I lined up behind him in an easy pull through, and thanked him as he began his shift, and I ended mine. That kinda thing was commonplace 20 years ago when I started.
Ain't no cell phone, GPS, app or artificial intelligence can do that.
Please explain to a rookie trucker like me why i need a CB radio.

I disagree with your position.
The mega fleets and the foreign invasion have flooded the industry with the under qualified.
Basing that as a guy with 32 years of long haul who owned his own trucks.TheLoadOut, blairandgretchen, Numb and 4 others Thank this. -

Snowy night, light traffic, and you hear a voice on the CB.
"Westbound, back it down.
You got a wreck over the next hill"...
You will be happy that you had your CB on.
'Nuff said.1999 C12, mustang190, blairandgretchen and 13 others Thank this. -
CB’s, horsepower, condoms…..better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Also kind like carrying a pistol in the 1950's) old days. (Most I knew had one in the truck).
Did not rack it and fire off randomly, and a CB does have an off switch. But like a pistol, you can reach for it when needed...
However, I am 90, and I could recite you some wonderful reassurance I had a pistol.
CB's came along later and I used them to advantage in service trucks for an equipment business.FullMetalJacket, IH Truck Guy, blairandgretchen and 5 others Thank this. -
One of the scariest part of being a trainer.
Some people in the world do not know their cardinal directions.
Even worse is when they also dont know when water freezes or boils.blairandgretchen and JolliRoger Thank this. -
A CB you don't have installed can never tell you anything useful.
A CB you have installed MIGHT tell you something useful.
You tell us what useful info you want to hear and we'll tell you if you need a CB.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.
