Lol, $100k budget to screw around converting a box truck?

Sorry but it just sounds incredibly stupid.

Just take your $100k and buy a class A motor home. I had a HR 31’ 1997? Had everything and wasn’t into it for more than $20k

Actually I traded one acre in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for it..land value at the time was $18k.

How buying a used rv or camper van ..with a warranty.....purchase price would be cheaper..and it's ready to use now

ARI sleeper when I went there last year quoted a rough $1,000 per linear inch for their sleepers - 120" . . . .

So, I think it could be done. Most camper and RV quality that I've seen is trash - IMO.

@mttstate - have you looked at ARI floor plans from their website, or did you have your own build in mind? Their interior framing is primarily square tube aluminum. They make pretty good use out of 120-168" boxes.

I've also seen, (and there's some on here that have done it), some pretty decent alterations with plywood and framing.

Honestly, I kinda like the idea. After trucking 22 years you can hardly catch me in my own truck, but that's just burnout.

    Yes, it could be done.

Yes, campers and rvs tend to be trash.

But by the time he's done with all the body work, his budget will only allow for trash interior work. He's going to need to design and build something to replace the roll up door. Then he'll need to reinforce the roof to handle the hvac system, or figure out another place to put it. Personally, I'd like to install some windows. That shouldn't be too costly but there will be restrictions on where and how big he can out them and probably some structural impact.

Take a used camper van, strip to the studs and then build out what he wants. Cheaper and he'll end up with a better result. Or a micro bus, anything that was designed for hauling people.

Dang! Bet you wish you had that acre back.

Not much I like about the NE, but I did enjoy the Whites. I'd like to spend some more time up there.

Was in a strict HOA type community needed a $50k deposit for them to hold while you build your house. Cut down one too many trees and you’re in big trouble! Just the timber on the lot was worth more than I paid..massive oaks.

Then taxes were insane once you developed the property..bare lot tax was like $150 but once you put a home on it taxes were like $6k.

Yah, was young and dumb and didn’t read the fine print before buying it.
