I agree. If it’s easy to move over I will, but I’m not slowing down to let them in. The can either speed up or slow down. That’s what merge means.
A big thank you to all those who "Slow Down and Move Over"

I might add when you pull over onto the shoulder, pull as far over as possible, even if on a little dirt. No need to have your left tires on the fog line.

If I have an exit coming up, I’m not switching lanes regardless of what is in the left lane. That non mirror non driving NPC brained dingleberry will sit right beside your trailer for the next 2 miles blocking your exit.Last edited: Apr 30, 2026

Alot of times a break down occurs on a section that offers minimal advance sight lines to make a quick lane change.
At that point I'm slowing to 40mph or under w my 4 ways on as far in advance as possible.brian991219, The_vett, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
''They claim being in a governed slow truck is just an outright hazard in itself when moving to the left.''
LoL. Yeah, that's nonsense. An incompetent driver in a governed slow truck on the other hand...that IS an outright hazard, in any direction.
As for the rest, I think if you're in the right lane, in a truck or any vehicle, and someone is attempting to get on the highway from a right ramp, it's obviously on THEM to either get ahead of you or behind you, but if it looks like they don't know what they're doing , you're obviously right there as well...you're better off accomodating their incompetence than allowing them to merge into you starboard midship. Unless you're retiring next week or something, then I'd say by all means let them merge right the eph into your company trailer.

It’s pretty sad what you see these days…. I Occasionally haul some wrecks for a buddy that has a semi truck wrecker…. I really don’t know if people honestly don’t pay attention or just don’t give a flyin ef about anyone else or aren’t capable of thinking that far ahead
I saw it yesterday again when I got over for a pedal bike on the right shoulder of a 4 lane divided highway (not controlled access) which put me in front of a darn 4 wheeler that had been following 2 trailer lengths behind me in the left lane for a couple miles… sure enough they had to move to the right lane to pass me just as we were going by the poor dude on the bike (rip his undies)….
All I could think is you gotta be freaking kidding me I was really tempted to close the gap between me and the truck that had just moved back to the right lane in front and hope that driver had a radio so we could teach the moron in the 4wheeler some patients…..Sons Hero, MACK E-6, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
i see it as they are egotistical, self-centered, impatient,
and always in a big hurry to go do nothing important.
Too bad everyone doesn't have a CB.
A useful tool,
especially if you have a loudspeaker.

I got yelled at by an Indiana state trooper once for moving over about 3 years ago. Guy changing flat on DS rear. I moved over, went by eased back over, got pulled over and told I had “impeded the flow of traffic.” And that in Indiana the one who was in the lane first has the right of way.
I told him had he not floored it, to stop me from moving, we’d been ok, and he was on camera doing so and yelling, besides their foolish 65/70 split, we’d have been ok. He ran my license told me to “stay safe”
I try to stay out of Indiana.
