A little secret about windshield wipers for your truck

Of course, Toyota does not MAKE wiper blades; they buy them from one of those manufacturers you see on the shelf at your local parts store for double the price. And they will change suppliers periodically, just like they change tire providers. So, while your idea works TODAY from the Toyota dealer near YOU with the BATCH they currently have, YMMV...

I own a couple Subarus. The first time I bought replacement wipers from them (my 2019 Impreza uses an odd connector that it shares only with BMW), they were great. The next time, they sucked. By the time I needed a third, Bosch had finally offered an adapter, and while expensive, those did last more than a year (note; most wipers don't last even 6 months).

Two things that really affect wiper pliability are age and storage. Two year old blades have already hardened. Blades stored in a hot warehouse all summer have dried out. Both make for crappy wipers.

 

I just get the sandwich maker to keep mine clean.

 

Another good way to keep your windshield clean is to stand on the hood and pee on the windshield. Especially if you’ve just drank lots of coffee this seems to work better. If you have a slope nosed truck this can be difficult however. This is why back in the day many trucks had hood ornaments. So you had something to grab hold of if you were slipping off.

 

I agree fully. It sucks if you have to slip seat though. Not really feasible to change the blades if you're in a different truck daily, but if I know im going to have the same truck, that's the first thing I do. I have no idea how anyone sees out those crappy cheap wipers. It just smears the water everywhere

 

Rubbing a dry sponge on the glass will not clean it.
