The town i live must have one of the last radioshacks still in existance. Ive never seen one anywhere else in ages.

 

They disappeared in Canada over 20 years ago and were rebranded as The Source by Circuit City. Unfortunately the rebrand also meant they changed their business model, catering less to electronics hobbyists and more consumer electronics. I think now they're known as Best Buy.

 

I'm thinking the ol feller running the museum still uses it to move the little snow we do get.

 

I'll try it, next time I see it on a shelf.

It's all about knowing the nomenclature. I don't, but it's interesting learning it.

 

That “Ferguson System” badge on the grill tells me it’s a 2N. I had a 47 2N which is in one of the pictures I posted, it had a Sherman under drive you can see the lever in the picture. There’s many of these N series still in existence, I see them all over. To me the only downfall to a N series or any Ford even up in the 70’s is the pedals, my Massey Ferguson included, is the pedal positions. You are shoving straight down with your legs. But they are relatively easy to work on. The N series engine and the pony engine on many old Cat dozers are similar in the fact you pull a retaining clip and the whole valve assembly will lift up out of the block, valve, valve guide, valve spring, all of it in one piece. Another nice feature on the 9,2,& early 8N with front distributor is the fact you can’t get the distributor out of time. The distributor is driven off the front of the camshaft and although it has a slot like a Chevy V8 it is off center, making it impossible to get 180 out of time. With a jack and a 12” crescent wrench you can adjust the brakes in seconds. Neat little tractors….
