I had a 4MG, that would get five pulling a high side, walking floor, I think it was supposed to be 13 six, but I had 24 fives, and stand-up rubber, and the scrub rail pulling into the dump was at 14 foot, and the little rubber flap that laid in front of my tarp would scrub. anyway, that trailer pulled like a kite, and I could do five running it hard. pulling a reefer, little more highway miles, and, even though they’re ugly, trailer skirts I would get 6.2. 6.2 was the best quarter I ever filed with that truck. Fuel was cranked up, best we could figure was around 625-640.

10 out of 14 brakes not working?
They put lil' shacks like that on 4 axle trailers?JolliRoger, Feedman, Gatordude and 6 others Thank this. -
4 of the smallest axles you can imagine. Capped off with 8 of the most worn out tires you've ever seen. Nascar would say they have too little tread.beastr123, JolliRoger, Feedman and 8 others Thank this.

Combining a side gig as a fishing guide along with driving?
Capital idea. I fully approve.

It's been a strange week.
Tuesday - rolling east on US40, by Greenfield, IN. Guy in front of a house sees me coming, hurriedly gets a little cardboard sign, then proceeds to wave it frantically at me, like he's advertising a car wash. As I get closer, I see the sign says "SELL OUT", and he drops his right hand and proceeds to give me the most pronounced middle finger display I've seen in a while.
I told the wife, we supposed data center in his area - and a quick search seems to support our theory. I should have stopped and told him I was headed to NY, and supported him on the data center fight, but he was a little misguided.
Tuesday again - Should've taken a photo. 'New American' driver - brand new chains pulling a flatbed with two large (like - 6 feet tall) piles of plate steel, some small I beams. 2 chains and 1 strap over each stack. That's it. I figured he'd be in the news at some stage. 'Temporary Truck Driver''.
Wednesday - today. Came up quickly on, and drove by a SUV with an engine fire on I-88. Something exploded about 40' before I passed. Woman and child on side of the road 500' away on the phone.
Today again. Parked nose in at a truck stop in Binghamton, (spaces are too short for me), next to a JB hunt dedicated truck also nosed in engine off. I switch off immediately and go about my business. There's a Popeyes chicken bag on his passenger step.
Little while later, I'm sitting in the seat smoking a cigarette, and he goes around to the passenger side, pulls out 2 25# dumbbells, takes them to the back of his van trailer, one at a time. Returns, pees behind the cab. I guess he didn't see me. Then proceeds to get INSIDE the van trailer, and this I only know because of the infrequent BOOM of him dropping the weights inside the van. First time I heard it, I also felt it - I thought it was someone using a bead gun on tires in the lot or something.
Poor fella. He had those muscles and tattoos and stuff, but he was only a little guy. I thought about asking him if he wanted to rearrange some stuff on my top deck and get a working work out, but I figured one day they'll let him pull a flatbed.
I got 150 miles into a load that cancelled when I called the shipper (better than the full 400 miles I guess), missed the 2 others I'd selected that one for - then struck out on 2 other options . . . so here we sit. That's trucking. -

blairandgretchen, cke, sawmill and 7 others Thank this. -
That doesn't look so good. Why you got the bonnet up?blairandgretchen, cke, exhausted379 and 7 others Thank this.

Dropping 25lb dumbbells inside a trailer should be loud enough to pop eardrums. I guess he wants everyone to know he’s lifting heavy. Probably grunting like he’s a constipated Japanese samurai.JolliRoger, blairandgretchen, cke and 7 others Thank this.
