Tesla semi involved in multiple fatality accident in Nevada

"The Hammer" is gonna have to switch his name to "Rubber Mallet" so he doesn't get shocked pounding on a Tesla battery powered truck.

 

The driver fell asleep.
Not sure what the make of truck has to do with that. Tesla trucks don't have self drive mode, the driver drives it just like any truck.

 

Interesting I’m curious if drivers will struggle to stay awake in super quiet trucks or will the tire and motor noise lull them to sleep

 

Boredom would surely put me to sleep. I'd rather dig ditches than just sit there doing nothing. Plenty of that waiting to get loaded/offloaded in this job.

 

On the other hand, the design of the truck may have contributed to the seriousness of the incident. Think bumper design, material choice, build quality, etc

 

See them all the time. They run out of the battery plant, between Sparks and Fernley.
The driver sits centered in the vehicle. Think that would take some getting used to.

 

It’s just like any other truck crash nothing different. Maybe if it was self driving truck it could have avoided the accident.

 

For those that are saying, "What does the make of the truck have to do with it?" Everything. My 2020 Cascadia would have beeped and applied the brakes waking me up, then, on it's own, either stopped before hitting them, or hitting them with way less impact, probably saving lives. The fact that a Tesla Truck, who claims to be so much safer than a traditional semi, and is going to revolutionize the industry with FSD, doesn't even have the safety tech my 6 year old truck has, is a joke.

 

Did anyone read the last sentence in the article? That’s gonna be a debacle that will raise cost of trucks another 10% and be a recall and warranty downtime nightmare.
