i’ll tell you what, I’m a company driver, so I’m not paying for the fuel but when I see that total after filling up, I can’t help but feel a bit guilty. I just hope my company is getting a decent rate for these loads. Cross country load is about $2500 for the truck and another $500 in the reefer. Kinda nuts when you think about it.

STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE, oops, 3 strikes, YER OUT!!! Rumors swirling Oct. 1, 50,000 rumored to shut down, hey, it could start in Texas, ( firing pistols in the air), let's watch,,,
OlegMel Thanks this. -
There won’t be a strike that amounts to anything. If you’re getting a surcharge fuel could be $12 a gallon and you’d still be fine. So that leaves the ones chasing loads off the spot market. Maybe if they shut down it could change things in their world momentarily, but once they go back to work they’re competing against each other for the same loads again.

For anyone thinking about running dyed fuel in any of the states that are allowing it, think about how long you’ll be in that state and how long it will take for your tanks to stop showing red once you start putting clear fuel back in. When we load a full load of dyed fuel (7500 gallons) it injects .6 gallon of dye.

Wow - that’s 0.00008 % of dye!Toomanybikes and Siinman Thank this.

To my understanding the only difference for dyed fuel is that it is tax exempt, but the underlying taxes haven't been waived. That means anyone who uses dyed fuel should be calculating the fuel tax and sending the state a check, right?
Yeah, it was probably bought when fuel was cheaper, but at the end of the day is allowing dyed fuel on the road really going to do anything? -
Yup and tbh a 50k driver shutdown or even a lets be "optimisitic" and say 50 to 60% of all owner ops shut down. That would be an autonomous truck manufacturer's wet dream. I can see the power points now. power points showing tens of thousands of trucks shut down with fat slovenly drivers waving picket signs while the autonomous truck drives past. The ones showing the drivers shoving their hands into the managers pockets and pulling wads of cash out while kicking the poor poor CEO.
The mega companys like swift that didnt shut down would likely.also use a variation. Yea.......This protest aint going to do #### but make many companys on the fence go with "far more reliable" options and sour many of the companys that are in our camp.
Also likely to piss off a lot of normal people when the manufacturers use this as an excuse to spike prices on literally eveything then blame the drivers and trump for it.Toomanybikes, Siinman, Ddh77777 and 2 others Thank this. -
What happens if u get dyed fuel in texas and get to a place like montana where they will dip your tanks.? I used to get pulled over all the time up there for that and fuel was less than $3 a gallon at that time.. lol
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
You just know any state that allows this. Every state around them that doesnt. Is going to have a bear sitting on the border with dip strips.
