I just wanna go up there sometime during the rally and see all the bikes. The closest I got was going the week after, and there were still several bikes around on the highways.
Hey, Les, how ya doing? You still at home?
Where are you

And unless you like walking miles upon miles & spending $500.00 a night for a $39.00 room.... Stay home!
You aren't able to drive a 4 wheeled vehicle anywhere near downtown during the rally. they have the roads blocked off & only allow motorcycle traffice. The closest place to park a car is 1/2 to 1 full mile away.
Motels are well over priced during the rally! Including in area's like where you live! I had the motel 6 in Sioux Falls, SD attempt to charge me $230.00 for one night when I rode up there a couple years ago. I told them to #### off!! Called the place I was staying in Sturgis & was told I could check in a day early if needed.... So I put it in the wind & crossed South Dakota!
Now you can combine the experience by staying at one of the campgrounds.... If you reserve early, you can get camp spots for $100.00 to a couple hundred for the entire rally. The longer you wait, the more it will cost. I think the rates at the Buffalo Chip right now are just shy of $500.00! And that is tent camping... In 100 degree weather! Then unforecasted storms!!! There was a tornado when I went. Last year they had a hail storm that caused millions of dollars in damage. RV camping is pushing close to 2 grand! And you still won't be able to take your car downtown. And if you stay at a campground, expect to take your clothes off & run around naked.... Or at least you'd be asked. And for some reason I think.....................................................

Now, Redd, you should probably stop thinking (I'm innocent until proven guilty

When we went up after the rally, we stopped at a little general store; they had little cabins you could rent and they were well off the main drag. I forget how much they said those little cabins rented for. They consisted of a bed and a stove. The bathroom and showers were in the store. The owner was telling us that people rented out spaces in their yard for tents or rented a room in their homes for a few hundred a night. Some of the folks there were telling us that they rented a room in their house a year in advance. This was back around 1997, I can imagine what it's like now. That couple of weeks probably generates the majority of income around that area for the entire year.

I would love a cabin for a couple hundred! I origianlly was going this year until I had to replace my camshaft in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago. I looked at a cabin... Just for me, $2200.00

That is unreal. I'm going to assume that was for a week?
